Darvish got lit up early in the game, but held on and seemed to settle down well enough. I would call it a B- MLB debut.

I'd give him a solid D. 5 earned runs in less than 6 innings pitched is very Lackey-ish. Just because Texas scored enough for him to get credited with the win doesn't give him any sort of pass on his effort. I don't think anyone in Texas will accept gatting a performance like that out of him every time out.

On a completely unrelated note, I was checking to see how some of the guys the Sox traded away over the winter were doing. Can't say I was surprised to see that Je DL owrie hasn't played yet this year for Houston because of a strained thumb. Kyle Weiland makes his first start tonight for Houston against Atlanta. Scutaro is hitting about the same as Aviles, but already has made 2 errors this year. Reddick is off to a decent start, but still has yet to draw a walk and has only had 3 3-ball counts in 19 ABs.

DiceK pitched 7 innings in his debut, and gave up 6 hits and 1 run for the win.

Just sayin' !

Against an equally anemic looking offensive team as Seattle is this year. That's the biggest concern I'd take away from Darvish's outing last night. Not only did he allow 5 runs, but he allowed 5 runs to Seattle!

I was being nice as it was his debut. If he did that every day, he'd be pitching for the Red Sox as their #1 or #2 Starter...

I took notice of that, and would have commented on it, except Seattle blows too!

The unfortunate thing about trading away Reddick is that I was really looking forward to throws like this from our right fielder.

Yeah, having an OFer with a decent arm is something I've been hoping to see for a while. That's one of the reasons I keep hoping Lin can at least maintain a great OBP and be considered a leadoff option for Boston in the future. I know I'm probably dreaming about that, but it's a good dream.
