I'm just reading the reports like you. They all say he was arrested on a charge of aggravated harassment as a hate crime. Apparently it's a misdeameanor and, the reports said he was at a police precinct and may be facing arraignment later today.

Personally, I don't care what they do to him but, any MLB player caught up in something like this will probably face some consequenses for his involvement.

But when everything is said and done, I highly doubt they will charge him with a hate crime.

I'm sure the MLB, Tigers and, Delmon hope you're right!

Just a footnote to the Delmon Young situation. Bud Selig is Jewish.

Why are you surprised? Young's a professional sports figure who is accused of spewing drunken racial slurs in a public setting. In today's society, thats going to make the news every time. If all he had done was get drunk and start a fight, it would have received minimal notice.

It's not but, over time that has become the conotation. The term Jewish has evolved over the years to describe a religion as well as an ethnicity. Although there are members of the Jewish faith who are not considered ethnic Je<ws, the term Jewish has evolved over the years to describe both the Hebrew (or Semintic) race and the religion.
