If that was a hate crime, the jails would be overflowing.
I'm just reading the reports like you. They all say he was arrested on a charge of aggravated harassment as a hate crime. Apparently it's a misdeameanor and, the reports said he was at a police precinct and may be facing arraignment later today.
Personally, I don't care what they do to him but, any MLB player caught up in something like this will probably face some consequenses for his involvement.
But when everything is said and done, I highly doubt they will charge him with a hate crime.
Maybe the Tigers planted it so they may be able to find an escape clause to get out of Young's contract.
