"At this point, the 49ers believe Smith gives them the best chance to win right now."

That's why they went after Manning, Smith is talking contract terms with Miami and he's not a 49er at the moment. Because the 49ers think he is the best chance to win.

Wait....

""""""""""""""""AT THIS POINT"""""""""""""""""""""""""" Smith has yet to sign with the 49ers... As in, how do think the 49ers can see him as the best option to win now, if they haven't even signed him to a new contract yet? You made a massive leap of faith in your post and I simply pointed it out.

How embarassing for you. Take a little more time to read and fully comprehend the posts you're replying to.

No hard feelings.

He is never wrong. Just don't ask him to do any Division for you.

Oh look, the childish insults start up yet again...

You just hate it when anyone disagrees with you don't you?

"At this point, the 49ers believe Smith gives them the best chance to win right now."

Once again man, take a second and comprehend things."

Again, how do you connect the dots here. You are trying to claim that the 49ers see Smith as their best chance to win right now. A player they don't even have under contract.

That's like saying "At this point, the Giants believe Roy Oswalt gives them the best chance to win right now." even though he's still a FA...

Smith is a Free agent and talking with another team about a contract, yet you are trying to claim the 49ers believe Smith gives them the best chance to win... It doesn't make sense. There are two possibilities here. Either you are wording it wrong and you mean something else, or you assume Smith has already agreed to come back and is guaranteed to sign for next season.

Which one is it?

"And what childish insult are you refering to?"

Augusta's 'Just don't ask him to do any Division for you.' comment. He misunderstood a comment I made in another thread and has been trying to tell me I don't know how do do basic math from that day on. Childish and stupid.

"But yeah, it's astounding and incomprehensible that he can't understand my very simple and direct statement of what should be, THE OBVIOUS."

I understand exactly what you said, as I pointed out. I just don't agree with the comment. How do you not get this?

And if he signs with Miami? Wouldn't that prove they didn't feel he was the best option?

I see what you were getting at though, I guess if oyu only look at the time after Manning was off the table, you could say this. I'd have worded it differently myself, but I get it.

there's no question, that the 49ers botched this.

The Niners offered Smith a 3 year $24 million dollar contract, meanwhile the Seahawks offer the Green Bay backup (who has started a total of 2 games in the league) a 3 year $26 million dollar deal.

Providing the Niners do get a chance to negotiate again with Smith, it will cost them several more millions and probably a couple more years.

Niners - Fail.

threw 5 INT's on the year, led team to 13-3 records, was a fumble away from the Superbowl. All this with probably the poorest group of WR's in the league.

Apparently you're in the David Carr, Colin Kapernick camp.

"But that's exactly why the very first words in my post stated "At this time". How much more clear could I have worded it?"

How would I have said it? "Now that Manning is gone, the 49ers may believe Smith is their best option to win now."

Simple...

"Look, obviously you don't want to say that you're wrong or you misunderstood or that you were at fault in any way."

Oh, I wasn't wrong. I most certainly did misunderstand what you mean't to say though. That's true enough.

No big deal though. That's what forums are for. Not everyone will understand or agree with everything any of us say here.
