For Pete's sake people have been doing the bag over the head for years. Nothing new.

Well now, our beloved resident planet hasn't shown much emotion about the deficiencies of this org until this year, the Year of the Scam. Give him a little time, he may come around. Of course, I'd bet that he doesn't believe in booing or brush back pitches, or kicking dirt on the plate, or throwing a bag of balls onto the field either.

Brown bagging it MUST be a viable threat if the team wants none of it. The bags certainly get camera shots. It doesn't have a long term effect but it certainly is a media attention grabber. After all, who could forget the Aints and their brown baggers?

Seriously? How long have I been preaching about the lack of accountability in this organization? About six years now? Who was the first here to seriously question Clint Hurdle...before, during and even after the 2007 Series? If fans want to wear brown bags, fine. What I am saying is that if there are 35,000 people in the stands every night doing it, the Monforts are still depositing large sums of money. We can whine about the deficiencies all we want, but there is a rather unique situation in play here and we are saddled with ownership that doesn't give a cr*ap about winning. They don't have to. They are sitting around laughing hysterically at the meaningless symbolic efforts of people who's money they already have in their pockets.

The whole thing is like that carnival attraction where you throw balls at a target and if you hit it, the guy in the chair falls in the water. You may hate that guy in the chair and think you have accomplished something wonderful everytime you hit the target and give him a dunk. But at the end of the evening, he dries off and he's got your cash. Who really won that game?

I said, emotion, not, criticism. I don't care if they wanna brown bag it. It creates a spectacle. I won't do it because I won't be there. Therefore I have a right to criticize ownership. However, I won't criticize them nor jump on them because they do it.

It's like voting. If you voted for B.O. you can't complain when the freedoms that we have in America that we all love and cherish (like the right to not purchase something if you don't want it and not get taxed because you don't purchase it) becomes extinct. If you pony up the lettuce to go into the pockets of the Monfarts the complain that they do nothing with that money, who's the big dummy?

Frankly, I don't care much if people wear brown bags either. I said as much above. What I am saying is that if anyone expects it to accomplish anything, they are kidding themselves. The first fan base I ever saw doing it was New Orleans Saints fans back in the early 70's. Most of 4 decades later they made it to and won a Super Bowl. That gesture sure produced results! And your last sentence more or less makes my point for me...the people who are putting the bags over their heads have ALREADY given the Monforts their money.

As to the political remarks which probably don't have much place on a baseball board, I would only offer that from where I sit, our freedoms were in considerably more danger during the 8 years we spent under the short bus chimp than they are now...political opinions are, of course much like @ holes. Everyone has one and nobody wants to see anyone elses that much here.

If you don't want to see them here than you shouldn't violate your own wannabe moderator rule by talking about Pres. Clinton like that. Short bus? He was pretty smart even if he made the office a laughingstock.

Please don't presume to speak for the whole board as to what we want to discuss and don't want to discuss. As far as I see it's a general board on a baseball team's site. I don't see that any topics are off base as long as they are involved in a baseball discussion. My topic and comparison meets that criteria.

Pardon me for suggesting that we stick to discussing baseball on a baseball board. If you wish to toss politics into it, feel free. I've just found that it is the only subject of discussion where otherwise intelligent and well meaning people on both sides of the spectrum have a remarkable way of being wrong most of the time. As the result, the above was the first acknowledgement of the subject I have ever made on the board. I will stick with my own suggestion of avoiding it in the future. It was a subject upon which Mark Twain contextually suggested, "It is better to remain silent and risk being thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." Invariably anyone who speaks out on the subject tends to do just that.

Pardon given.

Again, though, I disagree, as those who admonish others to keep quiet about certain things often think that they are more nobly taking the high road. Instead they come off as arrogant and elitist by quoting some old crusty.

LOL

They have changed the angle they film the post-game at in order to prevent bag head fans from showing up on TV.

The Rockies are a shameless group.... this is pretty low.

George Bush really was awesome. He had some serious swagger and was a P.I.M.P. on the podium.
