He's gonna throw min 80 innings this year

I don't think Santos is done for the season, but he'll be out for awhile, and even when he comes back, I don't think he will be as effective.

While I agree that Perez has been absolutely dominant as a reliever, I think the 40 innings or so that he would log as a closer wouldn't be his most valuable contribution.

Frankly, I'd rather see him as a starter, as I suspect that we're going to need some help in that department. I don't see Alvarez or Hutchison lasting the season.

Based on what?

The Jays are ultra conservative with their pitchers. Santos had an MRI which showed no structural damage...10 days to two weeks of no throwing? Seems a tad cautious

And Perez is most effective as a long reliever.

DONT YOU DISS ALVAREZ!!! Alvarez has a higher chance to stay than Morrow tbh, that dude is a stick in the rotation this year, book it.

No, Cordero is the closer until he proves otherwise.

I prefer Perez going multiple innings every few days. So much more value.

Well, Alvarez is younger, has plenty of options left and the timeline isn't pressing on him, considering all that I'd say Morrow is far more likely to stick, not that I expect Alvarez to go down, and that said, I also wouldn't trade Alvarez for Morrow in a hypothetical 1 for 1.

Was at a game last week against the Rays, the one where the roof was open. I was sitting right behind the Jays bullpen, and for the first part of the game, Perez was the only person in there. This annoying couple beside me kept calling to him to get a baseball or get his attention. This went on for about 10 minutes before Perez finally looked up at them, and without saying anything, twirled his fingers around each other in a cycle motion as if to say, "You can keep doing this as long as you want, you ain't getting <shit from me." Not a single fuck was given that day.

I was at that game too but I was sitting behind the Rays bullpen. The guys from the Rays bullpen threw some gum up to some guys sitting in the first row. Later in the game they gave a baseball to this one guy who wouldn't leave them alone.

LOL, yeah, don't even bother. Luis Perez doesn't throw baseballs unless it's over a plate.

Not out of the woods yet. I hope it remains nothing, but sometimes these things linger and become problematic; look at Pineda.
