So what? He is still 37 and has slower reflexes and slower jumps. Arnold Schartzenegger lookd in good physical condition too when he was 50 but he needed oxygen after an action scene.

Looks do not dismiss OLD. Old is a fact of life and cannot be held back...it happens! Torii IS OLD.

I can't see it. I could have seen us doing this in the past. Hopefully never again.

Extending Torii would be proof the ghost of Reagins is haunting the Front Office.

The problem with Torii being the 4th outfielder is that 4th outfielders are used as a defensive replacement at times. I'm not sure Torii would be a better fielder than Wells, Trout or Bourjos.

I can see Torii effectively replacing Wells for a year, if Wells's struggles continue. It might give Calhoun another year of development, should he need it, too.

But as a fourth outfielder?????

Lets take that money and get some bullpen help.

Unfortunately the Angels must just let Torri walk away. Love the guy and would like to see him do something with the Angels once he retires, but you are right, a 4th outfielder should be at least a really good defender or a really strong bat, which Torri is neither any more. The only way I see Torri staying is if something happens with Wells and he's not here next year. Now if he wants to sign a 1 yr deal for $1m, I'd be open to trying to be creative if he really just wants to stay here, but again, that's if Wells is not here.

Except when they're not. Abreu is technically the 4th OFer on this team (has already started in RF and LF), but he's not replacing anybody late in games.

The fourth OFer is just the guy who's not quite good enough to be a starter. Next year I would think it'd be more likely that Wells would be the fourth OFer behind Hunter, unless Hunter's age catches up with him even more.

Torii won't be here next season; he'll be riding off into the sunset.

This outfield WILL get young under DiPoto no matter how much Scioscia loves oldies.
