I think this will be resolved quickly. If he doesn't want to play then, let him take his ball and go home.

If it was just a question of Oswalt being "gassed," then Washington would not have left him out to dry like that in his statement.

Oswalt was having a hissy fit: how dare I, the great Roy Oswalt, be relegated to the bullpen in favor of Scott Feldman?

This is a pretty funny thread. A pitcher tells his manager he's not able to perform and eveyone thinks badly of him. Yet, if he had pitched the next inning and blown the game they'd be questioning, or more likely whining, about why he even pitched. lol Good stuff. I feel like the Halos forum has arrived in Arlington.

I don't think this really has anything to do with Oswalt being physically tired and not being able to throw more than 30 pitches. He wants to be a starter but can't go more than 2 innings in relief?

Wash is the one that made something out of this and, Oswalt escalated it by not being accessable after the game. Still no comments from either side. Both the Rangers and Oswalt could squelch this whole thing if they wanted to. If they stay silent, the media and fans will turn this into a firestorm.

Roy is pitching a childish fit because he isn't in the rotation. He thinks he should be in there because of his pedigree. Feldman has outpiched him hands down and deserves a sot. What roy deserves right now is to be suspended.

Just stopped by to see what's being said about Oswalt. Interesting situation.

T.R. Sullivan, Evan Grant, and the other beat reporters usually have a pretty good idea about what's going on with the team and that's the way they're reporting it.

Oswalt may have never wanted to come out of games he started but he's never pitched in relief so you can't compare the two situations. He stated pretty emphatically that he didn't want to pitch out of the bullpen. Now he's showing his true character and making it about himself instead of about the team.

<I highly doubt that whoever is spreading this BS about him refusing to pitch a third inning has a clue as to what happened.>

Well, it would seem the "whoever" that is spreading this BS is non other than the manager of the team.
If RW had not wanted to reflect badly on Oswalt's declining to go back out for a 3rd inning, then he could have made a statement in a way that would not have made it look bad for Oswalt. He didn't do that. Was that just RW's lack of awareness of what he was doing, or was he really put out with Oswalt, which is the way I read it?

Stay tuned for tonight's episode.

I think it's a storm in a teacup. We've known since before the season that he only wanted to come here if he can start. We've seen from his 2 relief appearances that at this time he is more valuable to the team right now in that role. He needs to process that information right now and wait for his opportunity to do what he wants successfully.

The fact is, as of the time I write this, NOBODY outside the clubhouse KNOWS what actually happened or EXACTLY why Roy O. said he couldn’t go out. Could be lots of reasons.

Hey putz! Back spreading those classy social skills I see.

What you "highly doubt" or "guarantee" doesn't carry much weight around here. Until your boy wants to clear this all up, the media will be left with their usual speculations based on what the manager said.
