See my post above. It's not a Huff vs Belt thing, it's a Belt vs Nate thing.

If Nate or Huff were struggling big time we may have seen more of Belt as he is 3rd on the list of the 3 IMO.

But, this may be a Belt vs. Belt thing more than any thing else.

That's true, but it's also a "Huff is going to play regardless of how poorly he plays" issue.... Let's say Nate keeps tearing the cover off the ball and Huff hits .150 for the next 2 weeks, is Belt going to play over Huff? Probably not.

Man. I think it get's a little bit sketchy when we start reading too much into a 30 second video clip and make up our minds about someone's attitude.

Remember when Pablo was struggling and everyone was pointing to a 5 second clip of the dugout during a game where Bam Bam was telling Pablo something and he didn't appear to be paying close attention?

The fact is that we just don't know what goes on and it's not fair to anyone to look at a clip and say "hey this kid isn't giddy and hanging on every word from Will so he must have an attitude problem!" These guys work on their swings for hours every single day. They talk about hitting nonstop. If I'm taking with my boss about everyday work issues I'm not going to look like I'm hanging on every word either.

Let's remember that this kid has done everything he's been told to do including going and playing in the Dominican after a long and exhausting year of playing back and forth from Fresno to the big club and breaking a bone in his wrist. I'm not saying he deserves a prize for that, just saying that he's done what he's been told and he doesn't complain a bit when asked about getting the yo yo treatment.

I'm already seeing this thing get blown out of proportion. I heard Bochy in an interview say that he was told by Bam Bam that Belt felt like he was pressing early on. In the next 48 hours it was "Belt tells his manager he's pressing" to "Belt tells Bochy he's mentally week" to "Belt tells Bochy he can't handle the pressure of the game" to "Belt asks out of the lineup!"

Honestly guys, I get it that we're all looking for answers that we don't have on a lot of this stuff but come on, let's not get all TMZ or Perez Hilton on this thing.

Huff being in the last year of his contract is on a short least....see Bengie Molina.

If he does hit .150 for the next 2 weeks I think Belt will get a shot to play more often, what he does with that playing time would be up to him.

For clarity, the video was more than 30 seconds and unfortunately I can't find it. And I didn't read too much into it until I saw another article referring to his "resistance" to being coached.

I wouldn't play Belt over Huff or Nate at this moment and I bet you wouldn't either.

Belt's got a lot to prove still. And I am all for young players getting a fair shot. I think the management of Belt has been very poor. But that doesn't change the fact that we are only at .500 so every bit of contribution is needed.

There is no time for Belt to find his swing at this point.

He needs to have a good game today.

"I saw no media coverage of this, no coaches pointing out the hole in his swing"

Such a good point, and 25toLife made similar good points. I've seen NOTHING in Belt's interviews or demeanor to suggest that he's got a bad attitude. Nothing. He's always said the right things and says if he goes to Fresno that's fine, he won't complain, he'll just put in his work and try to get back to the big leagues.

However, could anyone blame him if he did slip up and say something negative. Granted, if he was playing lights in the first 3 games he'd probably be in the lineup everyday so yes, you could say he has himself to blame and that's fine...But for Muelens to sit there and break down all of his weakness to the media in great detail was ridiculous. I've never read a quote like that and it was something that NO ball player would appreciate reading. After this kid does everything he's been asked to do he's got members of the coaching staff listing his shortcomings in detail??

Seems to me like a lame way to deal with the situation. I've heard so many interviews where Belt is brought up and his teammates always paint him as an "aw <shucks", happy go lucky kind of guy. I've never heard even a hint that he's a guy who brings an attitude with him. But who knows, maybe maybenextyear is an amazing judge of character who can read the guy in one short video clip of him working on his swing.

I would really like for him to succeed as well and there is hopefully time.

Huff is looking decent and Pill shows some promise as well as Posey taking the position from time to time. If Huff is hitting decent this year maybe another year in AAA wouldn't be the worst thing for Belt's development.

Do you remember where you saw the video of Belt working with Will? I couldn't find it anywhere.

"I wouldn't play Belt over Huff or Nate at this moment and I bet you wouldn't either."

I'm not arguing his playing time.

I'm questioning the idea of starting a thread questioning Belt's, or any player's attitude, based on your interpretation of a video clip of him working on his swing. Yes, I know this is just some silly discussion forum, but I think it's kind of weak. Especially considering that this is a kid who's done everything that's been asked of him and never complained about it.

It just strikes me as a bit Perez Hilton-ish in my humble opinion.

Huff hasn't been as awful this year as he was last year, he clearly had the worst World Series hangover (not literally) out of anyone. I expect Huff to hit around 25 HRs with 35 2Bs this year, which will be needed behind Cabrera/Panda/Posey.

Bottom line is this... In ths organization, veterans getting paid a lot will always be allowed to struggle far more than unproven players who are making the league minimum.... We just have to hope that if/when Belt gets a true chance at everyday playing time he hits .350 right out of the gate. If he struggles for a week, it'll be back to the bench since he's not making 10 mil/yr...

It may take a trade to do that and he becomes an all-star with another team.
Not the scenario many of us would enjoy!

Really wouldn't be stunned if any of that were true..... Ol Boch has to be tickled pink that he's now working for a fellow buffoon who shares his "an unproven rookie couldn't possibly be a better option that somebody who's had some success in the past" philosophy....

"Especially considering that this is a kid who's done everything that's been asked of him and never complained about it.

How in the world would you know that " the kids done everything asked" and everybody complains just not near cameras and mikes if they're smart.

It just strikes me as a bit Perez Hilton-ish in my humble opinion."

Of all the ludicrous, stupid and hysterical threads on this site regarding all manner of abject nonsense this wouldn't be a thread in the top 50 of Hilton-ish, IMHO and whatever that means.

" But who knows, maybe maybenextyear is an amazing judge of character who can read the guy in one short video clip of him working on his swing."

Try, I know it's hard but really try not to make everything a personal attack on fellow posters. It gets so idioticallt dull and ruins almost every thread and I surely don't mean just by you.

If you don't like the content. Don't read it.

I simply suggest another possibility to explain Belt's disappearance from the lineup based on granted somewhat thin evidence but, there is some reason to question the possibility.
