I hope that todays outing from Cecil bumps Drabek to the 4th spot for now. I think were all forgetting how much hype we had for this guy last winter, anyways its a great problem for the Jays that he has had a bounce back spring so far. Itd be nice to see Cecil get that 5th starter start in the first 21 days and give Drabek the 4th starter starts to see if he has to force the Jays hand when McGowan comes back.

He would probably be more useful as glue...

I'm not sure AA has much wiggle room as far as trying guys out just to increase trade value.

It didn't work with Eveland, and it didn't work with Reyes. I think he is feeling the heat, sooner or later he needs to win.

I get the impression that the Jays will treat this year as more of a "win now" season. I don't think they will play around with trying to build a guys value to the detriment of the team. The fact that they are already talking tough with Cecil instead of coddling him after that start is telling.

BTW, what's with Cecil's quotes after the game? The guy has removed himself from reality. A sad and obvious ego defense mechanism.

for me its about the team deciding its time to shut up and do... talk about moving forward is just talk until they show they are ready to do it. this needs to be the year that the team is not starting the year with dead weight. either they are moving forward or not.

AA picked up some great assets for the pen, but that wont matter one squat if they run out a starter who cant throw strikes that dont go 400 ft.

they made the right april move sending snider down.(I hope he will be back) now they need to do the right thing and remove cecil from the rotation. McGowan being down makes it a harder decision, but they still need to do the right thing. lets hope.

What exactly do you expect him to say? I am a terrible pitcher and now I will go cut myself?

I wish I had an answer for you. It is an interesting atmosphere they have created for this club, and some of the quotes that have emerged from it have been downright brutal.

Lind and Cecil seem to have a sense of entitlement for reasons known only to themselves.

I would love to see the reaction a guy like Cecil would get from this quote in Beantown or the Bronx.

Expecting a guy to acknowledge that he was horrible does not equate to expecting a guy to be suicidal.

That's fair. The rest of the team seems capable of doing an interview without putting their foot in it.

Mind you, the rest of the team also seems capable of working out for longer than 15 minutes.

Are you sure "dumn" is the word you are looking for? I think Rasmus is "dumn". Lind and Cecil take it to a whole new level.

With all the criticism of Cecil, doesn't anyone ever wonder what happened to this kid?

While I never thought he was as good as his 15 win season, I wondered what happened. How does a young pitcher who had success suddenly lose velocity?

I wish people wouldn't lump Cecil and Lind together. Lind has had a great season...and through his struggles the last couple years has maintained his power.

I don't think you can say the same about Cecil. I was pulling for the kid, but I am encouraged by Farrell's comments. Cecil shouldn't be handed anything and he isn't demonstrating enough to be a starter in the major leagues.

"I don't even think he realizes he's been horrible for two years. "

"I just don't see how he's supposed to get guys out. His stuff is such that he needs elite command, which he does not have."

He doesn't even have close to AVERAGE command right now. Behind closed doors, Farrell is probably asking for Hutchison.

I hold out hope for Lind. Before his injury, I thought his swing looked as good as ever last season, so it can still happen for him.

" Lind especially. I don't even think he realizes he's been horrible for two years. "

I wish I could dig up his "proven track record in the AL east" interview, because it illustrates this perfectly.

He has absolutely no idea that he spent two seasons batting behind the best hitter in the league. I know that for sure.
