Tru, I don't think I have any credit ............... and, if I do, I'm "sure" can't spare any .

"hopefully the sox can make the playoffs "

If the Sox make the playoffs then Bobby would be a miracle worker.

I'm pretty sure they already have. The way I remember it the Sox originally just had to hit the sign. Now they have to hit the baseball on the sign.

Curt Shilling must be really pi ssed off right now at the turnaround of the Sox considering what he said about Valentine.
But wait a moment, rumor has it he has a "few" problems of his own of a fiancial matter which may be a "bit" more important at the moment.

To be specific he was declared to be" too injured" to make his start -with a lat strain...a muscle strain of the torso- that generates the torque of a pitch and the golf swing...but that diidnt stop Cap'n Chicken n Beer from making his teetime...Now THAT DID indeed happen....along with his arrogant flippant go to he ll prima donna attitude when legitimately asked about it by a media that had every right to inquire regarding this questionable activity on the part of an athlete rapidly building himself a bad reputation and paid millions to perform on the mound -who none the less, managed to perform on the golfcourse....now THAT did indeed happen...as well....you up to speed yet, sparky?!

????.....I never said or implied that Tito was over rated...quite the contrary ...as I said he is the best manager in Boston for at least the past 90 years or so....but that was then and Bobby is now ...and he's doing a pretty good job in a very tough situation...thus far...

I was replying to your comment about Tony LaRussa, not Terry Francona. Terry "only" has two World Series rings, Tony has three.

Valentine has settled in, he's made some good moves lately...I hate the L-L R-R thing he does every night with the bullpen...I wish he'd settle on a lineup, but then again, injuries have hurt the team and he's doing the best with the guys he has.

The implication of Beckett's statement is that he should be able to do what he wants on his off days implies there are two unrelated dimensions and/or universes here, ie that is there is Josh Beckett the pitcher who lives is one dimension in time and space on days which are not considered days off and another Josh Beckett who exists in another universe/dimension and time and space on his days off.
The implication is that is for example if something bad happens in either universe/dimension, it won't and shouldn't have any bearing on what the person(Beckett) does and/or what could happen in the other because each operates independently and exclusively from the other.
Now in all fairness, I will admit that under some scenarios the above is possible such as Rod Serling would say in his lead-in-"That's the signpost up ahead-your next stop, The Twilight Zone."

Are you 100% certain your descriptions are exactly what happened?

Because if you are, please get some stuff from Beckett's manager that demonstrates his knowledge and handling of the matter.

Take your time.

Im never certain how much a manager has to do with winning or not winning however i believe if your going to rip a guy for the teams problems you have to give him props for the teams success as well.

Under the circumstances of the new season, Mr. Valentine is often the subject of discussion.

I've been a critic of his prior to his hiring, when the rumors first arose he was being considered. For a lot of fans, it became a hot topic, pro and con.

In his opening days as the new Sox skipper, he stepped on his tongue over players not returning phone calls by complaining to the media. At the start of the season, he questioned Kevin Youkilis' commitment, and has badly handled his pitching staff. Some fans have suggested players are not in shape, and are not playing with intensity - the team looked as though last September spilled into April.

So whether on the part of clubhouse speeches by the players themselves, or Valentine or a combination of the two, the Sox have been playing a bit better as of late and under circumstances that has everyone seeing names that should not be on the field because of injuries, Valentine, despite all his shortcomings has done well recently, all things considered.

But that's just my opinion.

Well, maybe Bobby wants to take Karl Malden's place doing ads for AMEX.

Don't leave home without gets replaced by don't get fired without it!

I see your point, sort of.

So if you're not going to compete seriously, not spend money, have a mess at the GM position and have just fired one of the most popular managers in a very long time, you might as well entertain the fans by giving them a new object to play with?

Okay, I can see that.
