Jack, are you telling me that if I claim to be a free-market capitalist... but can't bring myself to say a single critical word about Obamacare, even when directly asked... you would just let that go unchallenged?

"christians in america have proved that they're prepared to be as savage as religious fanatics anywhere else in the world. stop making excuses for them and admit it."

I am a non-believer, but that statement is ridiculous.

Until the Christians start shooting people that renounce their faith and throwing acid on girls for going to school, it is really re.tarded to say that. You are just making our side look bad, so don't say stupid stuff like that.

<,are these Christians hijacking planes and blowing people up?>>

no, so it should be no problem for them to denounce the violence in their Holy book, right?

So, anytime they'd like to step up...

"Religion is BS but that doesn't mean the spiritual or seeking God is bad. I believe in seeking a relationship with God if that gives you purpose and joy. If not, so be it."

I'm not into religion or spiritualism, and I am an atheist but I see the appeal of being interested in such matters, and I do, and have known religions/spiritual people who I respect very much, and who's beliefs I support... for them.

Honestly, to me, a lot of the problems that come with religion are just problems with people. People want to fit in, people want to be of value, people want to have control, people want to be secure. At the same time people are not always, or even usually wise, or kind, so they end up being destructive to themselves and others in the process of chasing their desires.

Especially in poorer countries. Its the poverty that brings on all of these foolish acts, not the religion. The institution is just a river bed through which the horror flows. This is not to make excuses for what I most others see as terrible acts, and some religions are certainly more conductive to such hateful acts but its not the FAULT of the religion.

The main fault of religion and spirituality in my mind was also stated in this post already, that of supporting of belief without reason as not a personal choice but an act of intrinsic value. I just cannot agree with that.
