I don't really feel comfortable making a lineup until we have Quentin in action...

and it would go something like this...

SS Cabrera
RF Denorfia/Venable
1B Alonzo
LF Quentin
3B Headley
CF Maybin
CA Hundley
2B Parrino
P

wouldn't be the worst Padres batting order, we just need to get rid of the rally killers (Bart and ODog) but we really need someone to step up as the team's leadoff man, I think E Cab is best suited for this everyone else strikes out too much or dosen't hit the ball on the ground...

i'd put quentin in the same spot when he gets back, but for now...no quentin in the arsenal lol...what would you do?

i like the way you pt everth at the top and deno right below, but for me that wouldn't happen for a while until everth is hitting consistently low in the order

Yea good call but when he broke into the bigs he had some success there, not an ez role no matter how much talent. I guess reno should be the guy for now then...

Deno
Parrino
Headley
Alonso
Hundley
Maybin
Venable
Cabrera

I really don't think they will replace two guys up the middle at the same time - I look for them to stick with Bartlett a while longer

I don't get so caught up in the line-ups as many here do

When you don't have the talent that fits into specific roles it's just a constant shuffle trying to see if anyone can do the job - we haven't had a true lead-off hitter since Doc left and when was that 2007?... Bud has tried everyone he can think of there... Clean-up hitter on this team without CQ - fill in the blank and no not Blanks... no one really fills the bill.. Once again we are thrusting a rookie into that role in Alonso or a Guzman who isn't hitting... at least I see Guzman is now out of almost everyone's line-up and two weeks ago almost everyone on here was sure he was a top of the order guy - LOL

Since Venable is hitting right now I would probably choose him to lead off - he has experience there and when he's hitting he hits fine from there and puts speed on the bases at the top of the line-up...

I do like line-ups where you can do some RH/LH alternating so that you don't have too many of one kind in a row but I am not sure Bud has that luxury

"Their 3-4-5 hitters Tuesday were Chase Headley, Jesus Guzman and Nick Hundley. That pretty well sums it up".

Hey the Padres' power ranking is #28 out of 30 teams. We're doing better than expected!

It's all about giving the young guys protection, which is why I'm pretty much sticking with the lineup I posted a month ago. This of course assumes Hudson and Bartlett are allowed to continue to try. Hudson has been so bad, that he may be gone really soon.

Venable / Deno
Headley
Maybin
Quentin / Guzman
Alanso
Hundley
Bartlett
Hudson

Surround Maybin with Headley and Quentin (or Guzman for now). Surround Alanso with Quentin and Hundley. This seems like such an obvious thing, get these kids something to hit!

The lineup doesn't matter. The players in the lineup are the problem...

A shuffle or two couldn't hurt, we don't have a proper leadoff or cleanup and those are very important parts of the order.
