"Pill not an everyday player???? are you kidding? they haven't even given him the chance they give Belt, and his numbers are better then Belts. Everybody keeps crying about giving Belt more time to prove himself. I say put Nate in the outfield and Pill at first. Oh Yeah in case you did know, The "not an everyday player" won minor league player of the year last year."

I'm all for giving both a chance to play, but come on, lets not pretend Belt and Pill are equal in terms of ability.

While I tend to agree with this statement, everything I've seen so far (granted a small sample size), Pill appears to have much more of a clue at the plate....

your right Pill is much better and more polished, way more ready to be in the biggs thenBelt. Sorry Belt just came up too fast and didn't learn the things he needed too like adjust at the plate

Pill is a 28 year old just breaking into the majors. Belt is a 23 year old big time power hitting prospect.

You guys couldn't be more wrong if you said Zito was better than Lincecum.

What are you talking about? Belt had success at every level of the minors and then has been mismanaged over the last year. It has nothing to do with him needing more time in the minors. It has to do with stupid knee jerk reactions like benching him after 11 AB's.

Crazy the blanket statements you are making about Pill with as few ABs as he has. He has looked ok so far minus his last start which was just god awful. Not getting runners in from third with less than 2 outs is downright huffish. We need to see more from both before we can make big proclamations about their abilities.

"""Schierholtz is a great 4th outfielder but nothing more etc. etc, etc."""

CAIN__ON is that you?? started a thread titled Belt when the only intent and purpose was to troll Nate,,, you are so predictable.

The curap in your panties gives you away before you ever get started, get a new MO.

Sorry, guess I didn't know that you were a successful former scout/GM... For the record, I do agree with you. If I had to choose one or the other I'd choose Belt, I just don't think it's the nobrainer that some people make it out to be, because it seems to me like Pill gives a pretty solid AB and always seems to make contact and doesn't look completely lost at the plate the way Belt has on occassion. And I think it's kind of crazy to make statements like "Pill just isn't an everyday player" considering we've never seen the guy play everyday. I'm pretty sure that there's probably Hall of famers who weren't labled "can't miss" prospects, and pretty sure there's been lots of "can't miss" prospects who never amounted to much. And no, I'm not trying to say that Pill is a potential Hall of Famer...

You really don't need to be a pro scout to access basic information on the two players.

C'mon Sabes, don't you know that you're not supposed to post any articles from bleacher report because as the Sabean/Bochy defenders say "Anything from Bleacher Report is just terrible journalism from people who don't know anything about baseball and should't be read by anybody... Blah Blah Blah"

He needs to learn to adjust at the plate you don't do that in the biggs. 11 ab's with 5k's and a walk, thats .500 on the k's

"lets not pretend Belt and Pill are equal in terms of ability."

You're right. Belt is younger, has a higher ceiling and more ability than Pill.

your right we need to see more of both. Belt should go down and learn to adjust and in the mean time Pill at first so he can get the ab's. im not just talking about this year. im talking about last year and this year. Belt has at best once every 3 at bats a k, and Pill has been putting the ball in play. And I don't want to hear about the "double" he had aganist the Met, if there would have been only 1 out they would have called the infield fly rule that was a fluke.

I wish you understood how ridiculous it is to judge a player on a sample size of 11 AB's.

The majors is exactly where you do that. He's already proven he can crush the ball in the minors. If you haven't seen his stats, look again.

Also, the idea he has a whole in his swing or can't hit lefties has been debunked by FanGraphs.

His problem is that he puts pressure on himself to perform quickly because he knows Bochy will bench him for Huff at the drop of a hat. If he knew he'd be playing on a consistent basis, he'd be a lot better than he has been.

Yep. By a lot. Pill may or may not be more polished at this point than Belt. I don't have a problem with giving Pill some AB's as well. But what Belt has the potential to be for this ball club is something that needs to be part of the consideration. This is about more than a couple runs in April.

^ this exactly ^

People are acting like the giants are considering benching Pablo or Posey to let Belt get some AB's. But we aren't. We are talking about Aubrey freakin Huff. It really isn't going to hurt the team to let Belt play consistently. It will HELP this team this season if the giants can restore Belt's confidence. They will win more games if that is allowed to happen. If it costs the giants a couple of runs in April to get potential big time power hitting prospect on his feet, I'm fine with that.

If you want to judge a player 11 at-bats at a time, how about Belt's last 11?

.363 AVG
2 RBI's
3 BB
2 Doubles
3 Runs
1 SB
