Yet he is on pace for 100 rbis. I think he leads the league in sac flies. Seems to me he knows what needs to be done to get the runners in

Kampana has struck out now 16 times in 73 AB. That's about once every 4.5 AB. This for a slap hitter. I don't care how many bases he steals WHEN he gets on base, you can't K that much and not walk either (5 walks) That is not an lead off hitter.

>>Alf is still the Cubs best power threat.

Yes, his 2 HRs are a real threat.

I would flip Campana and DeJesus. Having a guy on first for a left handed hitter helps DeJesus a lot more than Campana + DeJesus is a lot more patient at the plate than Castro. DeJesus isn't going to steal much so having him at first with Castro up, won't hurt much.

>>so a ground out with a guy on second is better than a groundout with a guy on first

Absolutely! Takes away the double play and makes it easier to score a run when the guy on 2nd moves up to third.

>>so he must have grounded into a double play. I see your point.

I don't know what play you're talking about. I thought you were making a general statement about grounding out with runner on 1st compared to runner on 2nd

I don't remember, but i wasn't trying to argue a specific play. I have no problem with Castro swinging on the 1st or 2nd pitch when he gets a nice pitch to hit. I try to keep my criticism to the players on this team who are actually not playing well overall.

"so a ground out with a guy on second is better than a groundout with a guy on first. Thanks"

Who said anything about a groundout? If the knucklehead didn't swing at the 1-0 pitch and Camp steals second, the pitch selection could be different, and there is a different comfort level with the pitcher having someone at second, as opposed to first. Dude, you're assuming since he gounded out on the second pitch of the at bat, that he would do the same on the 3rd pitch. That's funny and makes no sense.

Not to mention, if he steals 2nd, then the 3rd baseman would have to stay closer to third if Camp steals third on the next pitch, therefore opening a bigger hole on the left side for a lame grounder that could be a possible hit. Thank you...I'm a freaking genius!

check his batting average, the number of RIB's, he is the best three hole hitter the Cubs
have had for several years. Managers don't tell their three hole hitter to take a pitch so
that Campana can steal, the pitchers start learning this and Castro will be hitting behind
in the count all the time.....I think they could use the hit and run more but check the number
of times that Campana was on first when Castro made the third out......not many

DeJesus has hit doubles very often this season and that allows Campana an opportunity
to bunt him to third and get on himself, just like the first inning today......

Have you seen his OPS the last year?

If you're trying to build a bigger lead or claw your way back in the game ...I'd agree but if you lead off a game with a double, you should go for the jugular right away ...take a chance ...try to open the flood gates early. The Campana 1st inning bunt makes no sense whatsoever to me.
