"I'm wondering where they'll donate all the ones they had made up (as I can't imagine anyone other than Bashbro really wanting to buy one of those) after this season and they can his sorry a**? I'm sure they can find someplace that could use a bunch of new rags. "

My friend owns a septic cleaning company...

Tell him to plan accordingly. There will be plenty of cheap rags on the market fairly soon.

Maybe not so fast. Those idiots in the FO seem to be backing that fool...and I couldn't think things could get any worse.

I'm hoping it's just the standard "we're all behind our manager" speech everyone gives right before they can him. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic though.

I'm hoping too, but Lucchino and the rest are so pigheaded you never know. You might enjoy this, from On The Barstool:

Bostonherald - In an interview this morning with Herald columnist Gerry Callahan and co-hostJohn Dennis, the Red Sox president “challenged” the idea that the worst collapse in baseball history should spark significant changes to a team that posted a best-in-baseball 81-42 record during the middle part of the season. “I think there’s a flaw in the premise that somehow this team needs to be changed. And I challenge that premise,” Lucchino said. “There have to be improvements. Every year there have to be improvements, and when you have a colossal collapse as we did, there have to be some changes made, you would expect. But there is a nucleus of a very good team in that clubhouse. Lucchino noted that the Red Sox are “skeptical” about free agency after the past few seasons, when they spent money on John Lackey, Carl Crawford, Mike Cameron and Bobby Jenks and got little return.“We will never turn off that possibility. You’ve got to examine (free agency) every year,” Lucchino said. “But do we approach this year’s free agent class with some skepticism? Speaking for myself, I’d say yes.” Lucchino conceded he likely will “be more active” in his role because Ben Cherington is new to the general manager job after Theo Epstein served in the position for nine years.

This is the thing I love about the Red Sox front office and ownership group. How many times have we been fed the line that Theo handled all baseball decisions and the One Eyed Bandit handled the business side of the organization? That the reason Theo left had nothing to do with Larry. Well then why does Larry Lucchino always go on sports talk radio programs talking about baseball stuff? Saying how the club is skeptical of free agency now and how he likes the talent in the clubhouse, blah, blah, blah.

Who cares what you think Larry? By your own admission you’re just a suit. Just doing the business side of things. Leaving the baseball decisions to the baseball ops guys right? Wrong. Listen anybody who doesn’t think the One Eyed Bandit is the one running this team from top to bottom is nuts. Anybody who thinks he’s not the one who leaks sh*t to the media is nuts. Anybody who thinks he’s not the main reason Theo left, was fired etc is nuts. And that last line about how he’ll be more involved now that he hired Ben Cherington to be his puppet couldn’t prove it more. . It’s the One Eyed Bandit’s world and we’re just living in it.

Exactly. He's been messing up baseball ops ever since this ownership group took over. It's why Theo threatened to leave the first time, and John Henry had to step in and promise him to reign in LL. Unfortunately that only lasted a few years. Then Lucchino couldn't help himself any longer thinking that the splash free agent moves were needed to sell the fan base on each year's team to keep that damned sell out streak going. And in the process the fans were the ones who got sold out.
