You know that story has been proven to be untrue don't you?
Forrest never ordered his men to kill anyone at Ft Pillow. You are twisting the facts.
Forrest's involvement in the Klan is also another. In those times that particular secret group was a secret group set up to fend off occupying troops and invaders much like nationalist groups in other countries do in this time.
It rotted into what it is today over time. Forrest left it quickly because the rot started quickly, for that matter.
The south is dotted with small towns even today that looked when the Civil War ended. The reason is there was no progress made due to the extreme poverty the befell the region for the next century and still exits to this day in many places.
The United States completely rebuilt Germany after WWII, but made sure part of itself suffered mightily for decades after a civil war in it's own borders.
Citizens in this country to this day still refer to citizens in the southern states, who have had some of the highest percentages of it's own sons serve in it's military services since that war, as less than loyal.
There are more military post located south of the mason Dixon line now than north. There are more troops station south of the Mason Dixon line than north.
I suggest you look at the map and look where Ft Campbell, Ft Bragg, Ft Hood, Ft Stewart, Ft Polk, and Ft Benning are.
Don't tread on us
