"You compared Belt being benched after a few games like Albert being benched right now after a few games."

No I didn't. You are reading what you want into my posts. I made no such comparison at all.

"he doesn't need to prove anything; Belt does."

Again... How does a player who sits on the bench most games prove himself?

It's not consistent playtime no matter how you look at it. Give the kid a few months of uninterrupted starts and then see what he can do. On three days, off four days won't show what he can do.

"Some reports are suggesting Belt's played this Michael Cera persona to the hilt."

Links please?

"Hes played just as many games as he has been benched."

Haha. Considering that the Giants have played exactly 10 games that's not saying a whole lot in terms of a guy having enough playing time to prove himself redz.

If we can make that statement after 162 then maybe you're on to something.

"What if he hits badly?"

Then I'd accept it. I'd rather give him the chance and have him fail than to never get a real shot to begin with. But honestly, do you see him being worse offensively for his career then someone like J.T. Snow was in a typical season?

"You would still keep him in, jeopardizing the Giants playoff chances?"

He'd have to be a massive flop to jeopardize the teams chances. Like hitting well below .200 for a few months. But no, I wouldn't keep him in. If he was that bad after being given a shot I'd have no problem with the team benching him or getting him back to AAA.

Belt is the #1 option at first base. He did enough last year to win the job hands down this year. A .225 BA with 9 HR's in 187 AB's. Project that out over the 521 AB's that Huff got and you end up with a rookie who hit .225 with 25 HR's. Project it out over an average season where he was the full-time starter and he hits almost 30 HR's. Which one of you wouldn't be happy with those numbers, as a rookie. Some of you people are really short sighted. Brandon Crawford gets the chance to start after hitting .200 displaying almost no hitting ability. But Brandon Belt gets yoyo-ed around by bunch of idiots in the FO and Blowchy after having a very creditable rookie year, all because they were idiots and signed the aging non-performing veteran and can't admit their mistake. Huff is a nothing.

These guys (Sabean, Bochy) got lucky one year, but they've been taken to the cleaners by a bunch of frauds and their luck has run out and severely cost the franchise hundreds of millions. And they try to blame it on Belt.

You people are seriously misjudging this guy's capabilities. He's not playing regularly for one reason -- that fraud Huff defrauded Sabean just like DeRosa did, just like Tejada did, just like Zito did, just like Uribe almost did (thank you dodgers for saving us), just like Rowand did. These guys steamrolled Sabean and Bochy for hundreds of millions of dollars of wasted money, and now these incompetent clowns can't own up to the multitide of mistakes they've made. Blowchy has already cost us at least one game this year, because he's an idiot. And as a result, they're punishing and badmouthing and ruining one of their best prospects.

"Belt, at the most is a 5th OF and 3 in the depth chart at 1st behind Huff and Pill"

Belt is not an Outfielder. Never was. The guy is a First Basemen. It's his natural position. There is also no way Pill is ahead of the guy. Pill has an odd following here that is almost as knee-jerk positive as Belt is knee-jerk negative. If Huff broke his leg in today's game, Belt would be in full-time not Pill...

Until he stopped hitting and then Pill would the guy until he stopped hitting.

"Until he stopped hitting"

You mean 'Unless he stopped hitting"...
