By "dont know what people are talking about" I mean to say that it's NOT going to be a political problem for him in November. Americans don't have the attention span for one thing. Secondly, according to polling data it's not even a big deal to Catholics at large. They are pretty well divided down the middle on the issue and that is a snapshot taken in the heat of the news cycle for this issue.
Reality is that the only people freaking out about this are religious zealots and opportunistic politicians. It's not going to affect the election in November at all, especially if the alternative to Obama is Rick Santorum. Honestly, the only thing better for the Democrats than a Gingrich nomination is a Santorum one.
