Oh I thought it meant permanent in some cases, but whatever. I can't remember this happening in any recent cases though.

true but a lot of the worst details are only starting to come out now, I'd give it some time.

You know that the death penalty doesn't remove your program forever? Kentucky basketball got the first death penalty in 1952 I believe...

well the one example everyone looks to is with SMU, but that was only for a few years. If giving improper benefits to players is enough to get a program axed I would think a coach <raping childeren while using the athletic facilities should be enough.

But yeah if you gave a 30 year ban to the football program that would be the same as cutting the team.

Of all teams, the only one in college football to ever receive the death penalty was Southern Methodist University in 1988. Weird that a little Methodist school would be the one have had a scandal worthy to shut down the program rather than a powerhouse.

There program will be a mess for a long time regardless. Minnesota and Indiana should even be able to beat them now.

Sadly the Death Penalty has to do with a team gaining an unfair competitive advantage. Which this scandal doesn't fall under....

"Like what?"

Freeh report that was just released, showing how this was a whole organization coverup

Kind of makes it a bit worse when this whole thing was known and covered up instead of no one knowing anything was happening.

People have known about that for over a week (by internet rumors), but it just got confirmed. Still don't see how that would affect a recruit that has already committted?

They need to tear down the Paterno statue for sure. They should turn Happy Valley into a valley of burning fire like Gehenna, which was a garbage dump that ancient Israelites threw their children into, thinking they were pleasing their false gods. For <Jews, being told they were worthy of being thrown in this fiery dump meant their lives were worthless, which is why they should recreate Gehenna and throw the Paterno statue in there.

And no, I am not saying Paterno was Jewish, I just made the comparison to say that his life is now meaningless.

They don't, none of the sites really do. High school recruiting is a <crapshoot, Wisconsin's classes are always ranked low yet here they are with back to back big ten titles, what year did they recruit all those 4 and 5 star recruits that led them to these last two titles?

This while every year schools like Notre Dame put together great class after great class and then go 6-6.
