I couldn't agree more! When was the last time Hughes actually pitched and won an important game?? Answer: NEVER!!! As for CC, Garcia and, oh yes, Soriano, what a dissapointment. Starting pitching has been a problem for awhile now and moves by Cashman in the off-season have yet to show any indication that things will get better soon. Another sore spot is the lack of clutch hitting in key spots in key games (or any games for that matter). When-o-when will A-Rod come through with an important RBI???

What makes you think Pettite will pick up where he left off when he retired. I still think he is as big a question mark as anybody else at his age.

That is true, but he can't be ant worse than Garcia & Hughes. You would be an improvement over these 2 guys!

So what does that mean? Do you think the games in April don't count? They mean as much in April as they do in Sept. At the end of the year,A win is a win & a loss is a loss ! I'd like to see some indication from the starters that things are changing, but I haven't seen that.

Most of Bob Dylan's lines had little meaning in them.

April play rarely dictates how the team will play all year.

True, but the more games u lose in April, the more u have to win the balance of the year! These games count.

Don't make the mistake and be mesmorized by "name recognition". Those "names" seem impressive, but unless Kuroda can move beyond the "one good game, one bad game", unless Pineda can add a couple of mph to his fastball, unless CC can truly get back to his mid-2011 form, this could be a long season---

-- and it could finally determine Girardi's near term job security. At some point guys like Warren and Mitchell should be given the chance.. and Yankee brass need need to determine why Betances and Banuelos are going backward not forward at the AAA level.

...and for Gawd's sake, get Jones out of there and bring up Wise.

It amazes me that some teams have excellent starting pitching. And the Yankees almost always have an excellent bullpen but the starting staff is usually so-so.

I was hoping that Rothschild would be the Yankee version of miracle worker Dave Duncan. I actually thought he could turn Hughes into a decent starter. Maybe he still can given time?

Guess that's why I was all for improving the staff with Pineda or Felix or Ubaldo Jimenez or Gio Gonzalez or even Johan. Cliches like one could never have too much pitching ring true.

The bright side for me so far are Soriano and Logan. And of the other players Jeets, Teixiera (who seems to be making an effort to make contact and not just swinging for the fences) and Ibanez.

Soriano is a bright spot? He's been pretty putrid so far.

Piotching?

Is that like, Irish baseball?

Everyone who makes an out has to down a Guinness? The Red Sox might be good at that. Maybe they should relocate to Dublin.

Meanwhile, it is, as rightly aforesaid in the thread, April. I'd actually be more concerned if they looked amazing out of the gate. Few teams carry April momentum forward til September.

No team carries momentum April through Sept., but for some reason, many of the posters here feel it is only April, and these games don't mean much. There could be nothing further from the truth. My biggest, concern is not necessarily our record, but the way we are playing and especially our lack of pitching. These things don't just turn around in a heartbeat. We are not pitching and we are not getting timely hits! That is a sure fire recipe for failure. Now can it be turned around, Certainly by most. I don't think Highes or garcia have the talent to turn it around. How long are we gonna wait for hughes to be the pitcher we thought he was, and Garcia should be throwing Batting Practice, (wait a minute, that's what he is doing)! To lose to the Twins is embarassing. Jeter has stepped up, now its the pitchers turn!

"Personally, I am on the edge of my chair already in anticipation of the Battle of the Titans this evening. Hughes vs. Schwarzak!"

++++++++++++

LOL. Wonder how much runs the Yankees will be down by before the 3rd inning and have to play catchup yet again with this offense and its approach to hitting a baseball. HR's or bust more often than not.

Oh stop being a drama queen troll.

Nothing you've said there is true. These things do turnaround in an heartbeat. The pitching will be completely fine. The hitting will come.

There's more than a few slow starters on the team. When the Yankees are firmly at the top of the division in June, you'll be eating crow while watching your Mets lose their 10th in a row.

Depends on where he bought them that day. Once he stopped going to Washington Square Park more of the lines were cut with high amounts of Ex-Lax
