FishFans.....lets see them win a couple of games before we annoint them.....so far from what Ive seen it doesnt look too promising .....nice stadium and all but pitching wins games not plush seats and esoteric views of downtown Miami.

I'll believe after I keep seeing with my own eyes.........no I'm not a pessimist....I'm a Marlin fan since 1993.......I know all about the crappy dog days of summer.....and I also know we only won when we had good pitching AND catching at the same time........

So far we are below par for sure in the catching dept and the report card for the pitching will be in shortly......just hold your breath and enjoy the hot doggies and beers......

Oh yeah....theres a game going on down there!

I'm a Cardinal fan, but i'm really looking forward to things getting started. Besides the Cards, i cant wait to see the new stadium you guys have and to see if all the signings live up to the hype. Best of luck this season

If you live in Broward or Palm Beach (or farther north) Tri-rail has added service on returns until one hour after the game. (and a bus, if you miss the train), or you can go around 3, catch all of the pregame stuff Estafan has planned, and the park is open at 4. You should be fine, so have a great opening game, Go Fish!!!

This team stinks.. Sorry they are guttless out there.

It's the same story as last season... Only with a bigger payroll, and gayer colors on the uniforms.

Now it seems that a lot of Fish Fans are waking up.....

I'm pretty sure that this team is just avg as usual......they are inconsistent at pitching and hitting.

Its not easy to build a true winner.....it takes dough, luck and good coaching.....and staying healthy.

The Fish are deep in decent avg players but dont have 1 or 2 real threats like real good teams have.

Take the Cards...Freese and Berkman for example.

Well at least its a great park to watch a game in.

I disagree with you when you said the Marlins are deep in average players but don't have the 1 or 2 real threats. I think it's just the opposite - the Marlins have 3 real threats (Reyes, Hanley, and Stanton) but they have too many guys starting that are either below average for their position (Buck and Gabby), better fit as utility guys (Bonifacio and Infante) or are playing out of position (LoMo).

Plus the starting pitching is iffy. It can be great if everything breaks right (JJ stays healthy, Buehrle and Zambrano pitch as they did at their peak) or it could be awful if thinks break wrong (JJ gets hurt again, Buehrle gets old, and Zambrano has a meltdown). But I guess you could say that about every staff in baseball. Nolasco and Anibal are basically .500 pitchers so I don't really expect much more or less from them than that.

All that being said ... you're overreacting to one game. One game means nothing, especially the first game of the season when depth is not a factor.

Opening night at the new ballpark, nice ! Finally, I thought this day will never come.
I remember the talks of the new stadium years ago, and how long the first year of construction actually felt. I couldn't believe I was there, finally, at our new home.
I had mixed emotions though, I wasn't sure if I was happier for the new stadium, or for the great young team we have, or because MLB has finally started up again.
That might be because I don't care where my Marlins play, I just love to watch them play and root for them every step of the way, and also the fact that I have so many great memories from the old ballpark, including opening day in 1993.

I won't take anything away from this masterpiece of a stadium, I has amazing views and looks beautiful inside and out. The food stinks (well the 3 I tasted), small overpriced portions and bearly decent quality. I don't mind getting ripped off as long as it fills me up or tastes delicious, but the Sir Pizza was basically a Totinos $1 pizza for 10x the price.
The burgers were small and looked broiled and not grilled, and all the Don Camaron portions looked miniture with huge prices. Parking was fast, easy and cheap, we even got there pretty late and easily found parking 3 blocks away.

We lost, and almost didn't get a hit, and the opening show was such a downer that the only thing it was missing was Trayvon Martin's mother to be there too. I do appreciate the show now, it shows the reality of life. With how the military was affecting a family, a blind man singing the national anthem, and the greatest handing off the first pitch. It could've been easy to do the Miami typical show with Gloria Estefan and Pitbull performing with some Cirque Soliel type show, but this opening had heart and would be more memorable than any other.
Besides, great shows to come during Marlins games, and Daddy Yankee will be here this month.
Can't wait for game number 2.
GO FISH !!!

PS: If anyone is selling a used Opening Night ticket stub, I would like it. I can give you cash or good trades
