Kyle Crick is putting together some <damn good pitching performances lately. The 6.1 BB/9 for the season is concerning, but he's only 19 and relatively new to pitching. Huge upside with this kid, can't wait to see how he develops in our system. Hope we don't trade him away for a rental.

First game at a brand new level. Lol. Plus he's in the PCL. Higher altitude, thinner air, not as much bite on his pitches.

Yeah, but the league average K/9 is still 7.2

Good that he's got the increased K rate since the first start though

His rates remind me of a certain Braves prospect who bottomed-out this year after putting up similar rates, at the same level (IL, not PCL), at the same age. Although the comparison is meaningless, aside from the fact that it doesn’t make him a lock.

There's no similarity there. Skaggs has a far more advanced breaking ball than Teheran did, and his change is better than Teheran's curve was.

Sure, but I also said that there was no value in the comparison. It’s purely statistical. Missing bats is important, though, and Wooly is right to point out that the rates aren’t great. He’s pitching at a high level for his age, but I really don’t have much confidence in the ERA at this point, especially with regard to how it translates at the Major League level. I’m sure he’ll be fine, but I wouldn’t promote him just yet.
