Not so much a bump in the road for Keuchel as a roadside landmine really. Wow. His ERA went from 2.09 to 3.75 because of this one start. Nice night from Wallace and Paredes though.

Goebbert is hitting .346 over his last seven games with an OBP over .450. Jason Stoffel has a 1.40 ERA, 2.8 BB/9 and 8.9 K/9 so far this year.

Springer went off again tonight. More important than the hits, IMO, is that he didn't strike out at all. In fact, he's only fanned once in his past five games, and six times in his last ten. That's a pretty significant improvement; if he keeps it up, he could really take off. He's hitting .331/.376/.599 overall and a staggering .526/.558/1.079 (1.637 OPS!!!!) over his last ten games with SIX bombs. If he's not on the BA hot sheet this week, someone at BA needs to be slapped. Another strong outing from Alaniz as well is nice to see, microscopic 1.4 BB/9 for him now.

Rough start for Folty, wasn't too sharp tonight with the walks. Nice to see Chan Moon doing a little something, he's hitting .294 in his first five games so far. He could boost the SS depth in our system a bit if he starts developing.

Do you think Springer will get the call to AA anytime this year?

He well might at this rate, especially if he keeps cutting down on the strikeouts like he has recently. He's going to be 23 soon, so there's no reason to keep him in A+ ball if he's ready for AA just because this is his first full season.

Just saw Brett Wallace's numbers are getting better at OKC. It now reads .260 6hr 25rbi. Would like to see the avg get much closer to .300, but I am liking the 6hr and 25rbi.

Well Ash, I just found the answer to my question about Wes Musick. The Corpus Christi website indicated that he was placed on the inactive list effective 5/19. Today the OKC website showed him being promoted to AAA OKC effective 5/21. He started for the Redhawks tonight....went 6 innings and gave up 2 runs on 6 hits.

He started the season at Lancaster where he had an ERA around 2.50 after 6 starts.....then was promoted to AA Corpus on 5/5. He pitched 12 innings at Corpus and gave up 4 runs. Now, 16 days later, he's at AAA. Not a bad couple of months for the guy. He's a good kid. He's overcome a lot. It's good to see him having a good year.

Cool, good to know. I'm glad the organization is pushing him through aggressively, considering his age and experience level. Hopefully they might push Ben Orloff up to AA soon; there's no reason for him to be in A+ with his age and level of polish.

Wallace is hitting .390 with a 1.024 OPS over his last ten games, with three bombs. His OPS overall of .723 isn't impressive, but considering where he was, it's a big improvement. He's hitting .293/.303/.507 on the month. Glad to see the power, but he's drawn four walks all year, so he still has some things to work on. Paredes has a 1.101 OPS over his ten last games, and is hitting .329/.341/.466 overall with three HR, 14 total XBH and 12 steals in 15 attempts. .287/.342/.343 is Shuck's overall line.

Oberholtzer's start was great, awesome to see him pitching so well and missing some bats too. And Chapman wasn't what you would call great, but after his last few outings, you have to almost consider this one a success. Villar is hitting .333/.395/.359 over his last ten games. He's doing better, but there's still a lack of walks, too many strikeouts, and he hasn't hit a homer yet...

Nash and Springer punchout out a combined five times tonight, bleh. .300/.341/.600 for Santana over his last ten games. Doran had only allowed two runs through six innings, but in the seventh inning, he allowed three baserunners before being pulled, and Robinson came in and allowed four consecutive hits to effectively torpedo his and Doran's lines. So, just to give some context. Things can go south in a hurry in the California league. Seven punchouts is nice to see though; 6.8 K/9 is decent enough for a guy who gets a ton of GBs, and even with the three walks tonight his BB/9 sits at 2.5.

DeShields now as 28 steals and has been caught just once. 96.7% success rate. He's only hitting .216 in his last ten games, but he's walked ten times during that stretch so he has a .383 OBP. Man, you get the feeling that if this guy just hits for a league-average batting average, he could end up posting a huge OBP and being one of the best, if not the best, basestealer/baserunners in the league some day. And hey, Dufek didn't <suck utterly for once, that's...progress.

"When you're a 6-foot-5 righthanded hitter, there's bound to be some length to your swing, and that's certainly the case with Santana. He's a high-risk guy because of the strikeout rate, but put a player with his raw power in hitter-friendly Lancaster as his home park is bound to go on tears like this week. With a .254/.315/.500 flash line on the year, Santana is showing he can hit the ball a long way, but the 38 strikeouts in 124 plate appearances mean the red flags are waving."

The hot sheet only covers how well a prospect performs during a given week, not their season to date. Springer will need to keep up his good week to make the list.

Lancaster had an early game today. Domingo Santana had a pair of solo home runs, while George Springer added another home run as well.

I think another month if that long and its time to move Castro up to AA.. Maybe its because I want to drive over to Frisco and see him play!

Right now the Astros don't have a LH starter at AAA or AA who is pitching as well or better than Musick. I'd like to see them plug him into the rotation at OKC and see what he can do.

Clemens was pretty mediocre, thought the BB and K numbers continue to look solid. Nice to see yet another bomb from Wallace. Paredes continues his hot streak as well.

Adam Bailey has been raking recently, but then again, LH hitters in Lancaster...Santana and Springer keep rolling as well. Springer has ten bombs in 41 games; 39 HR pace for 162 games. Yeah, he has power. FYI, Lancaster is off tomorrow night.

Tropeano with the bounce-back start. 10.8 K/9 and 1.9 BB/9 for him, 5.7 K/BB. DeShields is now 29-for-30 in SB attempts.
