While not a "party" there is Presidents Day, and uh Christmas (even though its not on the actual date he was born)...

Plus the Google homepage regularly commemorates dead people's birthdays.

While I think you're just looking for fights now, I mostly agree with you. I don't see much point in celebrating the 100 year anniversary of a building that no longer exists. Anything more than maybe a one line mention in a Tiger note in the paper would be excessive. If the stadium were still there... or even if that shell was still there, that may be different.

What about other historical buildings in Detroit? I'm sure some of them have even been in continuous use for that long.

Wasn't looking to start an argument. Just thought it was kinda cool some people take time out of their lives to maintain the area out of respect for what was once there and I wasn't aware that it opened the exact same day as fenway.
