There's no denying they ran a class organization while in L.A.!

That article shows how beloved that family is in L.A. and how they were respected by the fans. I'll gladly take that and the argument about San Diego being in L.A.'s shadow means nothing provided that the Padres are able to finish above the Dodgers in the standings in the future.

I posted the article so people could actually read about what you're talking about and come up with an opinion. You didn't offer much. Not everyone knows who the O'Malley family is and not everyone read what you read. Why so defensive?

Be careful, he may have already read that article and it's not welcome.

If "they" don't know who the O'Malley's are, I seriously doubt they have much to contribute.....

It seems strange to me that a family with such strong ties to our rival would be interested in the Padres. I'm not sure how I would feel about the O'Malley family buying the Padres. Like everyone, I just want an owner willing to spend money and who's number 1 goal is a championship. I'm still holding out hope for Cuban. I know he's said he's not interested, but there's always a chance. Maybe MLB would be more open to Cuban as an owner if he was willing to buy a team that needs help like the Padres. Hasn't Cuban said recently that he would be interested in a team who needs help?

Right, I'm sure it's inconceivable that someone could read the articles, learn about the topic, and develop an opinion.

I'm not sure why your so defensive to something and someone who's trying to add something to your topic.

Cuban will NEVER be an MLB owner. The good ol' boy network of owners would never put up with his shenanigans!

The Dodgers aren't our rival. The Giants are the Dogs rival.....

I guess that depends on what matters most to MLB owners. Are they worried about on media shenanigans more than they are worried about owners with financial shenanigans? After the financial shenanigans of the Padres and Dodgers, owners may welcome the on field shenanigans for an owner who would be dedicated to building a successful franchise.

Every team in our division is our rival. Teams can have more than one...

Yankees - Red Sox = Rivalry
Dodgers - Giants = Rivalry
Albertos - Robertos = Rivalry

We're just that "team down the freeway" to the Dodgers.....

Im down with anyone that wants to own the team beyond just looking for a HUGE payday. O'mally already owned a franchise, has money, my guess is that this is just something that he wants to do because he misses the feeling of owning a team.

Rival - One of two OR MORE striving to reach or obtain something that only one can possess.

I realize that the Dodger/Giants rivalry is bigger and longer. That doesn't make our rivalry with the Dodgers non-existent.

Being that the Dodgers don't view us as a rival, how can you say a rivalry exists? That sounds more like an inferiority complex.....

I think you're exactly right about O'Malley missing being involved in MLB.

Personally, I think it'd be great. Under the O'Malley's leadership L.A. was a class organization.

I just acknowledged that the Giants and Dodgers are the bigger longer rivalry. I realize that the Dodgers don't view us as their main rival. I realize that you don't feel we are a rival in anyway with the Dodgers. That is your opinion. That is not the opinion of all Padres fans and it certainly isn't fact. First you are being defensive towards me because I'm trying to add something to your topic and now your insinuating that I have an inferiority complex because I feel that the Dodgers are one of our rivals? What's your problem? By definition, the Dodgers are our rival. By definition, the Padres are the Dodgers rival. I think most Padres fans would say the Dodgers are our rival if asked who our biggest rivalry is. That majority might have changed over the last few years with us and the Giants. I disliked the Dodgers more than any team for several years. That dislike has shifted to the Giants for me. Why are you going on and on with this worthless conversation? I guess you just have a personal issue with me and want to argue for the sake of arguing. Why else would be defensive when I'm trying to add to your topic... I have no doubts about where our franchise fits in with the storied franchises in our division. Inferiority complex? LOL, you're obviously the one with issues here. No need to get personal.
