I heard an interview with Bobby Evans on MLB Network Radio on XM yesterday and this subject was brought up.

Evans said that it's something that they'd consider and may discuss with Burrell further but that it would be at the minor league level, like possibly a roving hitting instructor type thing. I'm not sure that Burrell would be interested in doing that. First of all he's got a ton of dough, and then there's the fact that the cleat chasers might not be up to his standards down in the minors.

The "cleat chasers" in the minors have all the same qualifications as those in the bigs, with perhaps just a little less ticket money, and a little MORE access to the cleats.

I think Burrell lives in the Phoenix area now. So being a "roving instructor" will probably mean working with the development guys at the Scottsdale complex (AZL, instructs, extended ST, etc) with occasional trips up San Jose or Fresno or SF.
