I'm not meaning to start an arguement here, but I often wonder how many people who refer to Rolen as "the greatest third baseman of all time" saw Brooks Robinson play.

Clearly a healthy Rolen was an upgrade offensively from Robinson , but nobody ever played third better than Brooks. An arguement can be made that one or two were as good defensively, but no one will ever convince me that anybody was better. Ask the 1970 Reds.

I could not agree more. I really believe that since Brooks Robinson's hey day, the best defensive 3rd baseman I've ever seen is Kenny Reitz, and Kenny was no Brooks Robinson. I would put him as good as if not better than either Rolan or Schmidt though.
