I am neither foolish nor fickle, but I'm not about to start drinking the purple Kool-Aid. The Rangers raced out and were eleven games over .500 at the end of April (17-6). They're 10-12 in May, which is only one-half a game better than the WORST performing AL teams in May (Twins, Tigers).

And it's not as if the Rangers are going against Rays-Red Sox - Yankees the entire time. Losing two of three to Seattle? Scoring 7 runs?

I'm not yet sold on Ogando. He can be red hot for awhile, and them melt. Think last year's world series. With the benefit of hindsight, I'd have preferred Koji in there.

Agree about the world series, but all the IP's up to that point may have taken it's toll by the end. Besides, last years world seires has little to do with the current rotation and the possibility of adding an Oswalt to replace Feliz.

I do not go after Osawalt if I were the Rangers. I look at what they currently have and I think Ogando is the best option for another starter at this point. Feldman hasn't shown much when given his chance.

Look, don't misunderstand. I agree that Ogando is our best option AT THIS POINT. I just don't think he is the long term answer to many questions.

As for Feldy, well, he is just Feldy. Not horrible, but hardly someone you build a rotation around.

As for Roy O., I'd only sign him if it were not my money (which it isn't). We've had some good pickups over the recent years, and some real bad ones. Heck, we took a lark on Harden and Webb. If nothing else, Roy O. is a better bet than they were.

In short, putting aside whether we should sign Roy O., I'm a little concerned (okay, a little more than a little) about the long term stability of our current rotation. At least insofar as getting to the World Series again is concerned.

I'm just not that worried about the rotation. Yes, they have all taken their lumps lately, but most pitchers do at some point in the season. I liked how Harrison came back with a pretty decent game after having a couple bad outtings. And we all know Holland can be downright nasty at times, but he needs to be more consistant. All in all, I'm pretty darn sastified with the team. Now if they struggle through June, then I might start to worry a bit.

Agreed. I think there's too much ado about nothing at this point. Later? Maybe, but I don't think we need to go get anyone like Oswalt at this point.

I agree with your assessment of our current rotation but, the reality of it is the Rangers have a major issue in the #5 spot. Feliz is gone for 2 months. I'm not so sure that, even if they put him back into the rotation, he will be effective until late August. That's alot of games to cover.

I'm not convinced Feldy is the answer.

I go with Ogando and leave the pen to Adams and Nathan. Maybe Ross can be the 7th inning guy. I wouldn't go after a starter just yet, especially one who won't be ready anytime soon. Leave Feldman for spot starting and long relief.

Whatever they decide to do, I hope they do it quickly. Hate to see that spot be an unknown for a long period of time. Could turn into a bunch of losses.

They just went through a stretch where they played I think they said 15 games in 14 days, so all are probably wore down a bit. Hopefully getting back home will be the cure they need. I do agree they need to address that spot in the rotation sooner rather than later.

lol I hear ya Brian. And many are worried about the staff. I'm just not that worried unless they continue this into June. I look for Holland to bounce back tonight as did Harrison in his last outting. And I look for the bats to awaken now they are back at home. We shall see....
