4 PA today with two walks and a hit, his OBP is back around .360 again.

OBP doesn't mean jack to these Belt-bashers. Or it's 'misleading'.

his hits don't count and getting on base isn't important apparently.

It's much better to get up there and hack like Huff. 1 HR and a sub 300 OBP is much better than a 360 OBP if there are no home runs.

At least that's what I've been told.

;He's like Gregor Blanco except without power.'

We are looking at alternatives at the first base position. The alternative is Aubrey Huff.

Belt OPS of .703 as opposed to the alternative of Huff this year of .548. Now if you say Huff doesn't have enough at bats to judge him, you were probably putting this up well before Belt got the number of atbats that Huff has had. At 521 atbats last year, Huff had an OPS of .676. Belt this year is doing better than Huff did this year, but even better than Huff did when he got regular at bats last year.

'Or the ability to hit.'
He's hitting .235 as opposed to Huff's sterling .151. OBP of .360 as opposed to .306. Advantage Belt.

'Or steal bases.'

Like Huff can in 2012 steal any bases at all? Belt would get more stolen bases than Huff. He stretched a regular single the other day into a double because of his speed & hustle which is far better than Huff.

'Or play a premium position.'

He is way better than Huff defensively.

'Or be a leadoff hitter.'

Huff wuldn't be a lead off hitter either, though Belt's .360 is better than .305 of Huff.

With the choices we have Belt is the best alternative by far. And should play regularly.

"Someone like Chris Stewart provides more value to a team than Belt does."

That has to be, by a long shot, the most idiotic comment you have ever made... And that's saying a lot with all the stupid things you have said this season.

Were you calling for a rotation of first basemen last year when Huff had a full year of atbats in 2011 of failure?

Yep. You can't answer the question, because the answer is no one. Belt is the best option to play 1B on this team.

Unless they trade for, or sign a better player, he's it.

He is without a doubt our best option, and I would start him a ton and give him till close to the trade to get it going. If not a scrap first basemen is the easiest thing to get at the trade if Belt shows little to no improvement with his AVG and power.

You all who keep talking about a "premium" position, please remember its only a premium position if you have a premium player to fill that spot. The giants don't, so while that remains true and a trade seems unlikely, the most logical thing to do is play your PROSPECT every single game, and at the end of the year decide if dropping a bunch of cash on a 1b basemen free agent is necessary or not. Belt is not hitting well right now, let's take the opportunity while we have no legit options to see if he can work himself out ala Matt Williams...

Rotation of him and Pill? Pill has been so bad I can't agree with you. I have been totally disappointed by Belt's ABs this year and am thought of as a hater, but I have seen all I need to
out of Huff and Pill. Huff is done and Pill is garbage.

Name the player who is better. Rotating Pill and Huff, two players who are hitting far worse than Belt is not an improvement.

Nice to see that this discussion divides so many people. The bottom line is that until a better alternative arises, Belt is the Man! He's only 24, things will come around by the All Star break.
