"He needs to tell them the same thing Votto said....I'm NOT addressing it, DONT ASK.....period"

Meanwhile since Votto said that....

ESPN Insider Jim Bowden tweets Tuesday that the Reds have been told, presumably by agent Dan Lozano, that it will take a contract somewhere between the ones signed by Prince Fielder and Albert Pujols this winter. Fielder received $210 million guaranteed, while Pujols' deal is worth at least $240 million.

If you look up the news of last season spring training you will find that Phillips was concerned about his contract back then. Phillips never burden the team about it during the season. Yet for some reason it is a big deal now to some fans. Even after Phillips show that he can separate his business from the game. We know the Phillips personality it never changed since he has been a Red. He will not brush off the media that is how he gets noticed in a small market team.

I've said several times that I think we should re-sign BP, but I'm beginning to think that WJ has decided to let him walk. Either that or BP's demands are way out of line with what WJ thinks the market will be, and the Reds will get back in on him once he sees what's offered elsewhere.

Walt is in no hurry with BP. Once he gets all his core players signed I think he will turn his attention on BP. In fact I expect to hear something before the regular season starts.

Well the fact is Walt and I don't talk much anymore. He took offense of me saying that the Reds shouldn't be a retirement found for ex-Cardinals. So now I try to think positive that he will do to Reds players that help the Reds that he does with his ex-Cards players.

I think it would be best to look at Walt's behavior as a GM dealing with star players. I have no memory of him ever trading a star who didn't ask for a trade.
