Managers impact on a team is overrated except in the playoffs when tactical decisions are needed.
The Mets should have won more in the 80's with the team they had. Davey blew the series against the Dodgers just like Yogi blew the WS in 73 against the A's.

Listening to Bobby V. speak, he is a very articualte, well spoken person. That being said, he always seems to find a way to get himself in hot water with his statements, particularly with the evaluation of his players when talking to the media. As far as a manager goes, he did lead us to the World Series in 2000, with a starting pitching staff (save for Mike Hampton), and an outfield that was average as far as talent goes, during that 2000 season.
