<<They'll be driving us, most likely.>>

I told my friends 20 years ago it would happen and they all looked at me like I was crazy. I told them all we had to do was imbed sensors along the road, put one in every vehicle, and at every corner would be a sensor telling the car which intersection it is. Then type in our destination, and take a nap. It isn't that far from reality.

PS I have had more cars in my life than you can imagine, and the Prius is the most reliable and obviously the most economical.I bought my first car in 1957,and it was a 1950 Ford two door custom.Flat head V8 with a stick shift on the steering column. It had only about 100 HP and got probably less than 15MPG.I have had fancier cars, faster cars and more expensive cars, but none were as good as the Prius. You must secretly must like them too as you said you have rented them many times.

The Google nav systems are even cooler than that. They map their entire surroundings and identify any unknown/random objects that need to be avoided. They are performing great on public roads in the test cities, from what I understand. Can't wait!

You are right. They’ve already a got car (I think Mercedes makes it) that warns you when you stray out of your lane. Road guided cars would not only help the traffic situation, but keep people from speeding and driving recklessly. I have a half hour commute every morning, I’d love to be able to get in my car, drive to the end of the driveway and sit back and enjoy the ride while my car takes me where I want to go.

The metal is no thinner than any other car.FYO it is rated as a family sedan, not as a compact, let alone a sub-compact.I also own a KIA Optima which I prefer for long trips, but the Prius is not all that bad either and I am 6 Ft tall.

Didn't know you were such a Prius advocate. I'm not a fan, let's just leave it that.

People could make gas go further if they followed a few driving tips.

1. Stop racing up to a light that is RED.
2. If you see light turning red, get off gas and coast up.
3. Drive the speed limit and stop hitting your brakes so much. Especially on X-way.
4. Walk to nearby stores more often.
5. Tell kids to walk home from school instead of picking them up.

Main point, slow down, enjoy the ride, do the limit.

just a few for all

One more, a yellow light doesn't mean "floor it" if you are 100ft from the intersection.

Exactly. I had a car with 45K miles on it and it was totaled in an accident.
Insurance company asked how recently I had bought my tires.

I asked why, he said because they had very little wear n tear. I don't brake alot, I get off the brake when necessary to slow down.

I just changed my brakes at 80K miles recently. Don't use em if I don't have to.
My car has a 10 gallon tank, I get average of 340 miles per tank full on a car advertised at 30mpg on Highway, 24 mpg City.

If you know how to drive, you can get good mileage, just too many drivers in a hurry.
Racing past me 20 yards from a red light ain't going to help and you'll be there when I pull up too.

Each "You" reference is to drivers in general, not You exactly, LOL.

Later Buddy.

That was over 40 years ago, Where's my flying car?

AND I want it to fold up into a nice suitcase when I'm done using it too. LOL.

Watch this, it's an alternate version. Watch George "Stop" Jane from taking his wallet.

Coasting up to a red light saves a ton of gas particularly if you are still coasting when it turns green. Think of times you've tried to push a car for some reason, like when it stalled or something. Really hard to get it rolling, then pretty easy to keep it rolling. Same with stop signs and red lights.
