While Holliday is a great player he could never be dealt straight up for Sabathia or Verlander

Matt Holliday is batting .513 (20-39) with 2 HR, 12 RBI, 7 doubles and 11 runs scored since June 16th.

BUM!!!

It must be a really slow day for a lot of Card MBers! Talk of trading Holliday???? I guess if you want a premier player, find one and offer him 250 Million Bucks for 10 years ... and hope he is worth it??? Holliday is doing just fine ... he has his ups and downs, streaks and slumps, etc., but he's far too productive to think about shuffling off in a trade. Geez, has Willie affected some MB posters???

Don't know why people would ever wanna trade Holliday... Perhaps there's still a lot of hard feelings over the dropped ball in the NLDS a couple years back. He may not be the best on defense but whatever he can flat out hit. I love the guy and looking at his deal in hindsight he was a steal for what we're paying him.

Following this season, the Cardinals are only on the hook for another 4-years and $68 million for Matt Holliday.

That is well worth it.

He has an option, but I think he has to finish top 10 in MVP voting during his final year for it to vest.

And if he did that, we'd want him back that next season.

At most, though, we owe him $68 million. That's not bad.

Edit: By comparison, Jayson Werth, who is 33, the same age Holliday will be in 2013, had 6-years and $108 million remaining on his contract starting with this season.

Right. I wasn't complaining about it, just stating the fact. Holliday's been my favorite Cardinal since we got him, although my level of frustration with him last year tipped the scales in Berkman's favor for a while.

The costant GIDP with runners on 1st and 2nd still drives me crazy, but his contract is a bargain for an elite 3 hitter in the prime of his career.

I'll be interested to see if the Cardinals bring him back when his contract is through.

Will he become one of those franchise players you just don't ever let go of?

Just way too much time between now and then to even begin to speculate about that.

I never said anything about verlander, if he were dealt for cc I would be upset.
