IMO, Betances should be shut down for awhile, sent to extended spring training with Nardi, and retooled as a reliever.

How is Nunez doing? It looks like he's only played a few games. Is he hurt? I skimmed back a few pages but didn't catch anything.

Montgomery should go to the Tampa complex and kick the first front office guy he sees right in the nuts.

There is no rationale reason why he has not been moved up yet, annoying!

Me too! It has to frustrate him too. As a pro you do a job well and you are supposed to advance, why keep him on a stationary bike???

From Mike Newman during a chat session :

Comment From Fonz
Best prospect on Charleston: Mason Williams or Tyler Austin, and how close is it?

Mike Newman:
I'll take Mason Williams. He profiles to stay in CF which is a huge boon to his value. I definitely think Tyler Austin is a guy, but at a corner OF spot, he's really going to have to mash and I've seen better prospect mashers in corner spots. I haven't seen many better CF prospects in person than Williams.

Comment From Wade
Why don't the Yankees try and make a reliever out of Dellin Betances? There is no way that he can be a SP, imho.

Mike Newman:
It's all philosophy. If they Yankees believe throwing innings is the best way to fix shaky control, they will keep sending him out there every 5 days or so. I'm not sure you can refine command in 1 inning stints.

Comment From Atari
I know your love of Mason Williams but Tyler Austin has been coming on strong. When is their ETA? Would either be a replacement for Swisher?

Mike Newman:
Austin could be a reasonable replacement for Swisher at some point. My issue with Austin is that I see him as more of an average defender. If he's a .275 guy with 25 HR, that's good, but is it ideal for a RF in Yankee pinstripes? Those types of guys surface and have decent careers AFTER being traded by the Yankees don't they?

Comment From TMT
What's Mason Williams' ceiling? Will he develop enough power to be a 20/20 CF in the bigs?

Mike Newman:
We can count to 40, but I'm thinking more along with lines of 12-15 HR and 25-28 SB is a better way to add it up.

Comment From Cito Culver
How good am I defensively from what you have seen in Charleston?
5:11

Mike Newman:
I just can't buy what Culver is selling. He was in non-prospect territory for me to be honest. I'm not even sure I'll write about him.
