The .400 may be a stretch, but I have seen some of the great hitters in baseball who did not have the plate smarts that Goldie has this early in their careers. This kid is just plain outstanding at the plate. At the start of this season, he had a hole in his swing that a truck could have been driven through. He had trouble with any pitch with movement on it. Pitchers took advantage of his inexperience...EVERYTHING that he has done in a very short time is beyond remarkable. Yeah, as long as this kid remains self-confident without becoming an arrogant "I am soooo important' buffoon, he will carry a very high BA and hit for power. As far a Para: he will hit .300 and IF he is fortunate enough to remain in ONE outfield position for an extended period of time, his arm and range should get him an All-Star nod.

Parra will never get an AS nod. There are too many outfielders that will consistently be better than him and he will never be the best player on the Dbacks. He's still fun to watch.

Relax on your expectations on Paul....1 month does not make a season and it certainly doesn't make a career.

I am not just looking at one month. This kid has had a stellar and brief minor league career. Yeah, he will see some slumps and yeah, pitchers will find his current weak zones BUT I have not seen anyone adjust as quickly as this kid. I will admit a bit of hyperbole on my end but I will also state that this young man is someone very special. I am serious when I say that I have followed baseball for way over 60 years and have seen only a handful of players who have this kid's ability at the plate...also not too bad at 1st. He will be around a long time. Unless he gets hurt, I expect him to finish the season around .310 with 30 HRs. We'll have to wait and see if I am in Fantasyland...for now I think he will do it.

You may not be too far off in your prediction of .310/30. Time will tell. If I may beat a dead horse, the strike out rate will be very telling as he plays the rest of the season. If it goes over 20%, he's not hitting .310.

Agree about the K rate. I haven't checked current K frequency, but I believe the beginning of the season is when he racked up the highest percentage of Ks (K/AB). Again, I go back to his learning curve....he is a very quick learner. The good thing about my prediction...I can check at the end of the season to verify whether I am spot on or a complete failure with my assessment of his ability.

Well at least you came back to earth with that .400 BA. Would be great to see it happen, but I just don't see it every happening again with the way players play today. Never say never, but it's going to be a long time before we ever see a .400 hitter for a whole season.

I didn't suggest that he would do it this season. The probability of him hitting .400 in the future is dim BUT I do believe the kid has the bat savvy to hit .400. Remember he is still very young and he has to get a few seasons under his belt and he has to see a lot of pitchers he has not faced. So far he has been very impressive. He has to go through a few slumps and he has to maintain his cool....he appears to have a very focused demeanor and his emotions haven't dragged him down a la Upton....so far. Again, time will tell...I have until the end of this season to see if he can carry the .310/30 as I believe he will. If he gets close to these totals...Katy bar the door, his chances of getting closer and closer to .400 improve dramatically.
