Pretty good line for Kyle Gibson today. He faced 10 batters over 3 innings, walked 1 and struck out 7 (he struck out the first 6 batters he faced).

Chris Parmelee hits his 2nd HR of the game in the top of the 11th to give Rochester an 8-7 lead. This one comes off former Twin JC Romero.

Rosario picking up right where he left off. Beloit is going to be a powerhouse in the playoffs this year if they can stay health for the rest of the season.

Just saw this (Gibson striking out 7 in 3 hitless innings)! Though it was against rookie league players. Either way, you can only call it a good sign. He'll be moved up soon I'd imagine.

Anyone know about Gibson's velcoity before and after the surgery? Is he throwing as hard?

Yeah, his velocity is good, right around 93-94 MPH. I am thinking his next performance will be in a Miracle uniform.

Really?! Sweet. If neither of us are mistaken, that's at *least* as hard as he was throwing before. Right?

Honestly I don't get the hype about Joe Benson? He's got mediocrity written all over him.

Well he's been a bust so far yeah. He had a mediocre year in 2010, but he strikes out like crazy. He's not looking like a major-league hitter. Maybe he'll bloom late, who knows.

To really answer your question, I checked out his baseballcube.com scouting report and, apparently, at some point he had good speed, power, and decent hitting ability. Haven't seen any of that yet really. And while he has shown inconsistent ability to run and hit for power, he really hasn't hit or ran well ever.

A note on Wimmers and Gibson:

I would imagine it's better to undergo TJ surgery early in one's professional career. That way your body is stronger and you have more time to adapt. Liriano obviously wasn't the same, but his mechanics had to be changed too. I don't think they altered Strasburg's mechanics at all (though I could be wrong) and he's definitely made a comeback. Gibson had good mechanics before surgery so nothing needs to be changed. I read Wimmers has pretty decent mechanics as well.

Anyway, after seeing Gibson's dominating last three outings (5.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 11 K, 91-94mph) combined with Strasburg's recovery - I'm pretty optimistic for Wimmers. Sure Liriano never returned to his phenomenal form in a consistent way, but his mechanics were terrible. They had to work with him to totally change his delivery. Gibson and Wimmers are both young and have good form, something I think will help them return to live up to their hype.

So having Wimmers undergo TJ surgery isn't that bad. It's better to have it happen now when he's still young and in the minors. Hopefully he and Gibson return strong like I think they will and become solid pitchers on our future team that includes Sano, Arcia, Hicks and... idk.. Buxton?

(Note: I'm not saying we don't need more young elite arms - we do.)

Sano's errors make me so nervous about him.

Well, Derek Jeter made 50 errors one year when he was a prospect. Its the strike outs that you need to be worried about. If he can cut down the strike outs he could be a right handed Jim Thome offensively speaking. If not he could be Ritchie Sexson.

Someone asked KLAW on his chat about Sano and all his walks and strike outs. KLAW responded..."Can't scout the stat line. He's really young, and I'm hearing the quality of his ABs is good and improving."

Yeah interesting enough, Jeter was the same age as Sano and at the same level when he made 56 errors. The next year he cut it down to 25 errors so hopefully Sano can cut them in half too! :)

He is dominating AAA thats for sure. Best case scenario for the Twins is that Morneau finishes strong and gets his trade value up so the Twins can trade him in the off season. Parmelee would then have 1st all to himself. Another scenario would be trading Span and having Parmelee play RF next year. Either way I am hopeful that he will never again play a game at the AAA level after September 3rd of this year.
