Hey, Dan. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not around as much because I can watch the games on TV now. During most of the season, I have to watch them on the computer so I am commenting at the same time. Now, only my wife and kids get to hear me byching and moaning about every little thing that goes on.

It's odd. I saw my first game in 1964 and I think that I may always be scarred with the negativity from that season. Even in these heady times of superb Phillies teams, I always expect the worst. And even odder, I'm not like that in any other phase of my life. Oh well.

I don't think the Phillies will trade Taylor. If I had my choice, I would trade Vic for who ever. I believe Werth should get a contract extension next year. There are not many 30 plus HR's and 20 plus SB's out there. He has a good 5 years left in the tank.. I see Taylor being just as good as Werth ( if not better ). Also, It will only be a year or 2 till we see Brown. ( another 5 tool guy ). I would trade Vic for a stud 3B ( prospect ) or a stud pitcher ( SP or RP ). It will be an interesting offseason.

I love Vic, but he doesn't get you either.

That makes sense. I'm almost never on during the games unless it's a day game, but work has been so busy that I haven't been able to get on her as much. I see some of the old timers like myself aren't around as often either.

Saw my first game in '64 also. I hear you.

In fact, the second game I ever went to was game 6 of the infamous losing streak. The one they came closest to winning. They took a one-run lead into the ninth (I can still see Bobby Shantz coming in from the bullpen), but Rico Carty cleared the bases with a triple.

Yeah, good times. Good times. I mean, bad times. Bad times.

I saw my first game at Connie Mack that year against the Giants. Bunning pitched. Mays, McCovey played. And all I remember is Duke Snider in right field spitting more than I'd ever seen a human being spit in my life. The field was littered with great players and future hall of famers, and my most vivid memory is of an old guy expectorating enough in right field to water the grass.

Bump to keep this thread alive. We'll need it in the offseason to keep us sane.

Page 15? WS or not, that is unacceptable. :D

Has the time finally come where both Paul and DG are too busy to keep this going? I haven't been over here in a long time but surprised to see this thread with so much dust on it.

It has been dead without those guys, but with the WS going on most of the focus is on that.
I did read yesterday that the Phillies have decided to move former 1st round pick Anthony Hewitt to the OF. My sarcastic side wants everyone to know that move was as predictable as the sun rising in the east tomorrow morning.
I still don't think it will help him hit, but who knows. It sure can't hurt. It sounds like he's a nice kid who works hard, but might never learn how to hit at the pro level. Could be another great athlete, but a bad baseball player.

Really? I missed that. They probably should have done that right after he was drafted, NOT starting him at a wholly new position, but...

"It sure can't hurt."
Definatly not.

The problem is I doubt it will help. lol Let's hope it does, but some guys just can't translate their athletic ability into hitting a baseball. He's got 4 more years to learn how before he can become eligible for the Rule V draft.

I saw Dominic (sp) Brown rip a triple in the AZ Fall League All-Star game and they gushed about him. He's really long and athletic, but it looked to me like he's still growing into his swing, but his swing was pretty solid. His triple was off a lefty.

We really need to get DG and a few others back into this thread. I haven't seen DG here in a while.

Where are all the regulars for this thread? Guys like DG had serious insight. Anyone know if that triple or discussion about Brown on YouTube?

Domonic. Two 'O's.

I mentioned it earlier somewhere here, but he is still pretty young. 22 I believe. He's only been playing baseball full time for 4 years now. He was committed to playing football in college. Considering the success, and relative youth of the current outfield, not to mention the AAA depth we have (Taylor and Mayberry), there is no need whatsoever to rush the kid.
