    • Which Padre Should Be In The All-Star Game?

It seems obvious to me it's not going to be chase, wright is in, LaRussa is going to bring Freese, if he's not already in. Then it's

Hanley Ramirez or Chase Headley? Obvious choice IMO.

He's not going to have 4 3b on the roster.

Street has pitched just 19 innings in 20 games. He has faced less batters than the amount of times Quentin has stepped to the plate. Neither one of them deserves to be in the AS game. How can it not be Headley?

I could see Headley over Ramirez. His numbers are better and having a switch hitter on the bench may be more appealing to LaRussa.

How many gold glove does cement shoes have. Zero or something I think. If he gets the nod it is our of pure mercy. Average players typically don't go to the ASG.

Really highlights the sad current player situation in padres land. When we don't have even one standout high ceiling player. Not one.

Since gold gloves are a good measure of defensive ability...

Chase Headley isn't just average for his position. Something you continue to ignore.

I'd nominate Tom Garfinkel to represent us in the All-Star game personally.

I understand that Sandoval got a huge push in fan votes in the last week. He will be the starter at 3B with Wright as backup and Freese if they go with a third guy. My guess is it will be Street representing SD, along with Kimbrel, and Hanrahan as experienced bullpen arms.

Well what you are looking at are raw stats which do not take into account he plays half his games in the worst offensive park in baseball. Apparently you do not take that into account either. Something you still should have noticed though is his OBP is much higher than anyone but Wright. This is a huge advantage for him over Freese, especially when park is considered. OPS+ shows him to be better than Freese to date and he is a better defender than Freese.

Here is an example for you. Home his slash is 266/366/370, but the NL as a whole is only 227/303/341. While you may consider his home numbers poor, this shows they are well above average for Petco. He is an outstanding hitter for the park.

what's the latest on Sandoval's legal problem
that story just seems to have disappeared from the news

LaRussa is rumored to now be leaning to taking Grandal....LOL

What are you talking about? OPS+ of 123 is not ordinary. His slash line at home is way above the NL average. What park neutral stats are you talking about?

No they are not. Why do you post nonsense like this when a couple of minutes at baseball reference would show he is way better than average at home?

I didn't know Sandoval had any legal problems. I don't visit the Giants site. Cooties.

Can you believe Giant fans actually voted for Crawford at SS (1.3M votes)? The Dbacks have pitchers that hit better than him.

I understand the backup players for position players will be selected based on voting of the players and not LaRussa. Don't know for sure if that is true.

Sandoval was questioned about a sexual assault about a month ago
He said consenual she said she was too intoxicated to give consent
I don't know if charges were ever brought - like you I don't follow them and have never been to their board - but I just wondered what ever happened on the accusation

Ahhh, I guess I missed the part that says when voting for an allstar we have to take into account what stadium he plays in. For some reason I always thought that it was based on what he is doing...regardless of where he plays.
I'll bet a true allstar....say Tony Gwynn would have hit just fine in Petco.
Again let me say, I love Headly and hope he remains a Padre for a long time. I think he has become a VERY solid player, I'm just sad that he's only under consideration be an allstar because he's the best we can put up.
I hope he makes the team.
