If anything was missed on his medical (and I'm not saying it was) but IF, it would be the medical departments fault, not Cashmans. He HAS to go with what the medical people say as he isn't a doctor......

Cashman is not an idiot and cannot predict injuries. He isn't psychic. He wouldn't trade the Yankees biggest prospect for an injured pitcher.

So, how is this his fault? Did he smash Pinedas shoulder up himself?

I never ridiculed anyone for just voicing an opinion. I thought he was saying that he was wrongly diagnosed for a few years until they diagnosed the tear and then it got better.

As the GM he has to be accountable and when I stated that we can't get around the fact Montero was traded for this guy, I meant it metaphorically in that we gave up our best hitting prospect for Pineda.

This wasn't some rinky-dink package that we could afford to say meh.

Cashman got burnt in this deal and big questions remain about Pineda moving ahead.

FYI - McGowan was throwing a 93 mph 2-seamer and a 96 mph 4-seamer in spring training. He is currently on the shelf with plantar fasciatis with an expected return date in early June.

He's 23...he has some of the best surgeons and rehab staff in the world available to him. I'd say he has a pretty decent chance to comeback from this....

Montero hasn't even had close to a full season in the Bigs yet. Potential does not equal performance. I think I'll wait a few years before I consider him to be a star. Right now, he's a kid with a lot of potential, nothing more.

Yeah, this is a major blunder on Cashman's part, one that I hope gets ownerships attention.

This effects the team in many ways. Not only can't Pineda win games for the Yanks, he can't even take all important innings for the pitching staff.

We also lose one young bat that could have been integrated into the lineup for years to come. Regardless what some of these posters need to believe about Montero, he always starts slow and finishes strong. Anyone that's paid attention to him knows that. That's why I don't put any credence into what they say.

I keep mentioning this but they are ignoring it and locked in on saying well Montero isn't playing too stellar now.

At least Montero is healthy and on the field and will more than likely improve as the season goes on.

His minor league career showed those same trajectories a slow start and a monster as the season developed.

They can't justify an injured Pineda by trying to highlight Montero's start to the season.

Yup. Do me a favour Yankee fans, when McGowan pitches for the Jays sometime this season, root for him a little. This was a guy who had number 1 elite stuff before he was injured back in 2007. Papi said that he had the best stuff in the AL.

He is now turning 30 and attempting a comeback after 3-4 years of rehab. He could be a good role model for a young guy like Pineda who will have to undergo not just a healing process over the next 12 months but also a whole new throwing regiment.

Its one thing to recover from labrum surgery and throw in the low 90's. Like Pineda, McGowan was a power pitcher. Its tougher for the hard throwing guys to recover.

In any event, I am not a Yankee fan but I hate seeing a young pitcher like Pineda go down like this. Many fans of McGowan have had their hearts broken. We know the feeling.

Hope he can come back strong. Hard to believe he is now 30, seems like yesterday he just was starting. There were a some nice arms and prospects around that time. Also some good ones now, Lawrie and Romero. I know Snyder is back in the minors, but he had a lot of buzz around him.

I heard that Pineda tore his labrum while hopping around on Joba Chamberlain's trampoline.....
