"Eww You're a, a, a ZIT."

Dang I laughed so hard in the Pink Panther and Animal House movies. But tried to show my daughter in the 90's and she didn't understand the humor...go figure.

From "The Pink panther Strikes Again":

Francois: Do you know what kind of a bomb it was?
Clouseau: The exploding kind.
--------------------------------------
Clouseau: This is a very serious matter, and everyone is this reum is under the suspicions.
Cook: Reum?
Clouseau: What was that?
Cook: You said 'reum'?
Clouseau: Yes, I know that!
----------------------------------------

Time for a boring anecdote......my wife and I went to see "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" in December 1976 at the Plitt City Cinema at The City Shopping Center. During the previews, they showed a trailer for what looked like one of the WORST movies ever made. During the film, I went to the snack bar, where they had a HUGE diorama for the crummy looking movie in the previews:
COMING IN MAY! "STAR WARS!!!!"

"Star Wars" opened May 25th, 1977, and my first child was born May 27th. The following night, my best friend came to visit the baby at the hospital, and after visiting hours were over, he asked me if I wanted to go see that new "Star Wars" movie. We went over to the theatre, and there were LONG lines waiting outside to get in. We turned around to go back to the car, and the theatre manager came out to announce they were going to show "Star Wars" in 35mm in the other theatre (it was a duplex, one 70mm screen, one 35mm screen). We were FIRST in line for that, and only waited a half hour!

yeah, yeah, yawn........

" wheeze I'm youhh Fathahah Luke, wheeze."

Dang my friend( a skateboard champ at the time ) was completely addictied to Star Wars. Everytimje we did skate exhibitions in Modesto( 95 degrees at night!)we'd do the afternoon PACKED matinee.
That first Star Wars was huge. I guess the others were also. I was just perplexed as to how a nam vet could love Star Wars movie so much...until I realized myself later on it was "escapism."
Anything to forget.

I probably should have added that "Star Wars" became my all time favorite movie. That trailer was absolutely awful. I think even Lucas acknowledged that, I seem to recall reading he was pressured into rushing a trailer out for the Christmas season.

Back in 1982 or so, I taped "Star Wars" off HBO (hey....that's a good start for a song! LOL!), so my boys could watch it. I created a monster.....they literally wore that poor old VHS tape out! When "Return of the Jedi" came out, I took them to see it 6 times that summer......and my son (who was born two days after the opening of the original film), has become a World Class Star Wars Geek!

anyway..... Star Trek: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3k_CgzdR2s
