Who do you think is the better Yankees pitcher, Pineda or Carl Pavano?

Wright, duh...

But seriously, still lots of time to judge this trade.

Apology accepted.
This thread is for Pineda appreciation for his career as a Yankee, let's not let it get sidetracked.

I was just thinking... I wonder if we could get Burnett back?
Maybe Sanchez for Burnett?

It was still a good deal for the Yanks.

Montero doesn't have a position so he'll probably never make it out of the minors.

Yeah, tell me about it. I know Pineda can do better than what he did yesterday, but he's just been placed on the DL for two weeks and a lot of people on here are throwing major hissy fits about this trade for Pineda having been a bust in less than his first month on the Yanks, 'Pineda this,' 'Pineda that,' and so on. We'll just have to wait and see whether the Yanks can help him get back on track soon enough.

just keep in mind that midway through the first year there were a lot of people that hated the Granderson trade too........

'This thread is for Pineda appreciation for his career as a Yankee, let's not let it get sidetracked.'

I know. I just thought it was somewhat too early for a thread like this, but still, I hope that Pineda will turn out to have been a worthwhile acquisition in the years to come.

Yeah. In fact, someone once bemoaned the potential of Austin Jackson becoming a stud when Granderson and the rest of the Yanks were in a brief hitting slump. I guess you can't please everybody all the time.

I love Granderson, but wasn't Ian Kennedy also part of that trade? Yanks didn't get off scot free on that deal, Kennedy finished 21-4 and a 2.88 era. Pretty astounding numbers.

I think how good Kennedy has panned out only more clearly shows how shortsighted it would be to decide whether or not a trade was good or bad so early into the time frame elapsed......yes, so far the Pineda-Montero trade looks bad, but at one point Jackson looked like an emerging stud and granderson a borderline dud and Kennedy was an afterthought.....

The very same could be true if Pineda comes back and does well, Montero levels off as a mediocre player and Campos turns into a really good pitcher.......

the bottom line, as said many times alread,y it is silly to marry a definitive opinion on this trade this early.........

While some people don't care for WAR much, I think all 3 teams got pretty decent return on this trade.

In the last 2 years...

Tigers
Austin Jackson: 6.9
Phil Coke: 3.1
Total: 10.0

D-Backs
Ian Kennedy: 7.4

Yanks
Granderson: 10.5

Good, glad it worked out for all, that is the way it is supposed to happen...........

Definitely. I am hoping the Pineda and Montero switch will have a similar return for both teams. Still very early...
