The way I look at it, the best shot we have at accomplishing anything this decade is to completely give up 2013, and trade away Cabrera, Choo, Masterson and Perez. Hopefully get some starting pitching prospects, and 1st basemen and outfielders wouldn't be bad either.
Actually trying to contend next year is a waste of money considering the talentless team we have now, and the fact that our minor leagues are relatively stacked at the lower levels.
According to various tweets; Antonetti just stated that Acta is safe for next year. He said of Acta, “he is part of the solution not the problem”
Of course if Antonetti is not safe - then what he wants for next year may not mean a hill of beans.
Throwing another rebuild at the fans is simply unacceptable and will be met with skepticism and outright anger.
If that's their strategy - they need to resign since they gambled their careers on this youth movement and it now appears to be a failure.
No way they can sell finishing 3rd with 74 wins as a good year.
I agree with you about the scape goat thing, but from watching bruce drennen, from what he has seen and observed.... Sandy is even more relaxed than manny. So if your looking for someone who is a hoot and holler guy, Sandy is far from the guy you want.
but, what I would really like to see is who would be his coaches. I mean if he brought along some of the 90's tribe guys...Lofton, Carlos..maybe even travis (though i heard i really likes his position with the org).... it might lead to guys playing a little harder. I really believe that those 90's guys held each other accountable for playing good and bad. When someone played bad, they let them know they need to do better. I don't think that anyone on this team has that type of personality (or credentials) to go out and point a finger and motivate another guy or the team to do better.
