Can Sandy, Omar, Fryman, Thome and maybe even Lofton be any worse then the people who have been running this team since Dolan bought the team????

The truth is if Chris and Mark are still running this team in 2013 if it were possible the Indians attendance would be ranked 31st.

Well they'll be last again, UNLESS...and this is a big What If, they get some power hitters in this lineup, cure the problem in left field, get a couple of proven veteran starters, and cure the catcher/firstbase fiasco. Oh, get rid of Hafner and Sizemore off the books for sure. But other teams will NOT allow this to happen in trades, we have no prospects to give them, and we all know the Dolan family will NOT shell out some bucks for free agents. So they have their work cut out for them, too bad they didn't do some of that work during the off season and during this past spring and summer.

I believe that Alomar will be the next manager for the Tribe because manny Acta will be the scapegoat for the 2012 season. Antonetti, Shapiro, or Dolan won't be the scapegoat because Acta will be thrown under the bus.

With nothing to trade the only way this organization fixes the problems they already have, needing two quality starters and a Major League left fielder who hits with power is to sign them as free agents. Someone posted that the close to $30M that comes off the books at the end of this year most of that goes for raises to the players they already have. So unless Dolan does something he has never done since owning the team, spend $30M out of his pocket, I don't see much if any improvements next year over what they already have but will instead invite 60 players to spring training and see who they can use who is in Columbus this year and there is your 2013 Cleveland Indians.

I can hear the spin now, we gave Acta enough talent to at least compete in the weak AL central and his handling of the team in 2012 was the reason why this team didn't live up to our expectations.

The way I look at it, the best shot we have at accomplishing anything this decade is to completely give up 2013, and trade away Cabrera, Choo, Masterson and Perez. Hopefully get some starting pitching prospects, and 1st basemen and outfielders wouldn't be bad either.

Actually trying to contend next year is a waste of money considering the talentless team we have now, and the fact that our minor leagues are relatively stacked at the lower levels.

According to various tweets; Antonetti just stated that Acta is safe for next year. He said of Acta, “he is part of the solution not the problem”

Of course if Antonetti is not safe - then what he wants for next year may not mean a hill of beans.

Throwing another rebuild at the fans is simply unacceptable and will be met with skepticism and outright anger.

If that's their strategy - they need to resign since they gambled their careers on this youth movement and it now appears to be a failure.

No way they can sell finishing 3rd with 74 wins as a good year.

For him to say Manny is part of the solution, shows me this man doesn't really believe what he is saying, or else he's delusional, there is no other reason to make that horrible statement. Thanks for the bad news. Don't we though get a higher draft pick, like in basketball, when we finish near the bottom? We need prospects in the farm system, so maybe this will be one small benefit to finishing near the bottom in the American League. With things so dismal, I'm trying to look for a silver lining, however remote it seems!

I agree with you about the scape goat thing, but from watching bruce drennen, from what he has seen and observed.... Sandy is even more relaxed than manny. So if your looking for someone who is a hoot and holler guy, Sandy is far from the guy you want.

but, what I would really like to see is who would be his coaches. I mean if he brought along some of the 90's tribe guys...Lofton, Carlos..maybe even travis (though i heard i really likes his position with the org).... it might lead to guys playing a little harder. I really believe that those 90's guys held each other accountable for playing good and bad. When someone played bad, they let them know they need to do better. I don't think that anyone on this team has that type of personality (or credentials) to go out and point a finger and motivate another guy or the team to do better.

If Mark and Chris are not replaced, that's exactly what they will try to shove down our collective throats, and you know what the real sad part is? Some folks will buy it hook line and sinker. I shelled out a good buck last year and this year on tickets, and if this present group is retained, I'll not attend. I'm a diehard, not a casual fan. So when you begin losing the diehard's, that will maybe send a message to the Dolan's that something needs to change. Oh I'll watch them on TV, listen on radio, but for me too spend hundreds of dollars on a product they do NOT care to improve, nah.....fool me once , twice, thrice, quadruple times, ect. shame on you, there comes a point when it's shame on me, and I better wise up. This team and organization is breaking my heart, I've had one heart attack, don't really want to experience it again. I'm just getting to the point where I'm at loss for words, describing this team.

Their only chance of getting attendance up is to win. And they aren't going to spend that money, so might as well put out a really cheap team next year, and expect low attendance, and then if the Indians are able to actually have a good season when all the young players start filling out the roster, the people just might start showing up.

I say they finish in dead last place. Minn is starting their stretch run and we are not better than the royals. They may not win another game this season. THAT COULD HAPPEN WITH THE WAY THEY ARE PLAYING.

Joe, no they couldnt. But you, me, and three or four other posters couldnt do worse either. I am starting to just laugh. Hysterically. This is truly "Major League" the movie. I wish only Bob Uecker was our announcer......"Wild Thing" would look like Sonny Siebert on this staff.

I agree I don't see where they can get enough of what they need to be any different then they are right now next year, they need too much. 2 quality starters, 1st base, left field, long man, a bench that can actually hit when they have to play. They have nothing to trade and they sure won't be spending big time for free agents.

If Acta isn't part of the problem then Shapiro and Antonetti are the problem.
