This city is a horrible sports town. people have been fooled by the support for the browns. thats just the fact that they are the NFL, the biggest league in the world, and a lot of those fans arent clevelanders, keep that in mind. Its easy for out of towners to be at the stadium 8 times a year. These people couldnt care less about the indians. They are only rooting for the browns and thats it. Many people call Cleveland a good sports town, i say we are one of the worst.
The 15,000 people that do come to the games arent too vested in the team anyway. They are kids, family, old people, clueless high schoolers who are only there for a good time. They dont care whats going on with the team.
People can blame the Dolans, the weather, the browns. But at the end of the day, baseball has been facing a generation of people who dont really enjoy or "get" the sport. people scoff at the idea of 162 game season. Thats the beauty of baseball tho. Nearly every day i can watch my tribe, it gives me something to do, and during the boring summer, the tribe can give me memories and entertainment, and pride. This city just doesnt seem to care, they are too busy bantering over the worthless Brandon Weeden v Colt Mccoy debate...... both of those guys will fail.
This city is upside down with its support of the teams. Browns are the worst, cavs are in the middle, and the tribe are by far the best team. Yet the attendance is the exact opposite. This city must be addicted to failure or something.
And as far as this series goes. Where is Detroit? i figured their fans would take over but not even they are coming to cleveland.

So, who are vested in the team then if kids, families, old people, "clueless" high schoolers are there, but nobody else?

You nailed it right on the head! I've been thinking myself that people in this area just don't like baseball. It's sad, but true. I LOVE baseball first, and because of that, I am also a Tribe fan. I always state it like this. If there were a professional rugby league in America, and Cleveland had a team, would I cheer for them? No. Why? Because I don't know or like Rugby! That's why I don't follow basketball and football anymore. Because I really don't even like the sports. Baseball is the greatest game/sport EVER created! But Northeast Ohioans don't get it. (For the most part)

Hey Art, look at the attendance in 2007 It did not pick up until late summer. Besides, Why should they sell. They are making money . MLB have a welfare system for their"poorer teams". The MLB on their own will make money from the natnal TV contract, from the teams penalized for having player salaries over a certain level, a small percentage on the sale of licensed souveniors, cooperstown, and some other products that they sell. they will before they divide up the teams shares, will get the teams financial records, and first pay out to the teams who are not on their own making money. they will get a greater share of the league's profits over the level that they need to live on. I think last year that the indians made about $10 mil. last year, they felt hoodwinked, anddid not do enough to improve themselves over the winter. So, they were slow to come around. They did have a good walk up crowd and had 20,000 in attndance. Today, expect over 30,000. It is a WKYC Weather ED day, so schools send alot of kids to the game. If this was based on attendance only, you think that there would be a team in Tampa?? I think that you just want the Dolans to sell. Ain't gonna happen Art. Not when they can make money still. I was at the game Monday, and will attend today as well. The fans want a winner, not a teams that starts well, and fizzles. They understand that and that is why the club itself is mum on our attendance woes. They also understand that the schedule is against them as well

No, this club has a history at futility. It took winning to fill the house, and when this ownership dismantled the team, and Hired their manager on the cheap, well the fans saw where the team was heading . The cheapest way possible. At least now, they are getting some of their retired stars to help them, now. Maybe Omar will retire this season, and we can have him next season as our first base coach. We need to win it all one year, and then at least contend year after year. Our bad seasons have to be fewer, and farther between.and now there is a new problem facing indians fans and the team for attendance. The horseshoe casino. attendence tuesday was 15,049, and the gateway parking garage was Full. I was there about 1/2 hour before the game. what are they going to do when the yankees, and Red sox are in town?? May I suggest opening up the lot off of the lakeshore freeway east of 9th street for a cheap game day rate, and then offer either a free, or cheap fare shuttle bus from the lot to the ballpark. or, they mark the Gateway parking lot for special even only, and have the fansshow their tickets or ticket Emails if they are ticketless. the outside lots were charging $20 on tuesday. I can not go far because of MY COPD.

Have to agree. People would rather watch Basketball and Football, it is more fast paced and easier to understand the rules.

im not buying the People cant afford it excuse. I am a college student with little to no money to my name. if you play your cards right, you can get parking for 5 bux, at worst 10. tickets are 7 or 8 bux a pop. dont buy the expensive seats, because you can just sneak into those sections due to the emptiness of the park. and why would you buy food and drinks at the stadium???? just eat dinner before the game at a restaurant or at home. bring water and peanuts (or anything else if you have a purse or bag) and you will be fine. People are just going crazy on spending. You need to learn to control yourselves. Its irrational to buy food at the stadium, its overpriced. People are constantly suc.kered into buying it, but its really easy to control yourself.

People cant afford the tribe? yet they can afford the browns??? the browns cost wayyyy more yet they are selling out even when they are unwatchable. i may be brutal, but its true. there arent quality fans in the seats, as few fans as there are. ive been to other stadiums like wrigley and they are smart fans who have real, vested interest in their team even though their team is garbage. yet in c town people are not really watching too closely. Im fine with a family taking their kids to a game, but when thats the main audience, and the tribe turn the game into a childish event, its annoying and pathetic. The Cavs have a fairly annoying presentation, but it gets you pumped up. The indians are all about kids and family, and its made it uncool to root for the team. People in their 20s like me get very demoralized by the tribe. not because of failure but because of their presentation.
and they continue to try to get rid of cheif wahoo. how am i supposed to support my team when i know they are trying to slowly rid themselves of their identity? all of this adds up and makes tribe baseball suffer.

10 bucks and you can stand on the Home Run porch and watch with a great view.

Besides, you don't have to go to every single game - just get out there once in a while.

Plus, you don't HAVE to buy beer or food.
