"It's funny how the other commentators talk to him as if he's just having fun and acting normal."

Naw, I think they know he's bombed, you can hear it in their voices.

Oh yeah for sure but they basically talk to him like they are drunk as well, maybe so the viewers think it's normal.

I enjoy listening to Tabler. He says some casual fan stuff but so what? News flash, if you guys step away from this board and talk baseball many people cite RBIs and ERA. They can't start talking about a players xFIP if they want ratings.

The OP is true, it was stupid to say that about Drabek, but every colour guy makes mistakes.

Tabler's in game scouting is a lot better than some of the other colour guys who are just big homers. He at least gives the other team credit when it's due.

"...if you guys step away from this board and talk baseball many people cite RBIs and ERA..."

I don't know about you, but even the casual fans I hang out with have enough common sense to realize that RBI's are practically useless. ERA I'll give them a pass on.

<WTF on everything else you just said.

They realize it's a situational thing, but also feel like part of it (not all obviously) has to do with clutch. I'm a believer in clutch although I know RBI are fairly useless, so I can still have a pleasant and useful conversation using RBI.

"<WTF on everything else you just said."

Why? I enjoy Tabby especially compared to many of the other colour guys I've listened to. His scouting is pretty solid and he has a nice sense of humour which I enjoy.

I don't get too critical of our own announcers. I often laugh at the foolish things they say but I've basically accepted them for what they are.

National TV broadcasters (like Sutcliffe) annoy me a lot more.

Jays should just replace Tabler with Alan Ashby. I mean Ashby criticizes players and plays all the time. The radio broadcast crew is far better than the television crew.

Nothing wrong with clogging up the bases chance for more runs. Runs are what you trolls keep whining about.

I actually like Buck and Tabby... Sure they're huge Blue Jays homers but they're pretty funny at times and at the least they're entertaining. A lot better than some other guys I've listened to.

They are huge on baserunners, solid hits and shortened 2 strike approaches as well.

In fairness, Buck is way better as a colour guy paired with someone who isn't also a complete idiot. I was excited for Buck's return because Shulman/Buck was likely the best TV tandem we ever had. Who could have known he'd be so bad at play by play?
