>>if they didn't cut the deal with Angelos we would still be basebell-less<<
_____

That's just wrong, Rich. There is no way that the other owners would scuttle a deal just for him and there was no way there's contraction. There was nowhere else viable for the espos to go. Selig wanted a complete consensus and sold us out.

Let's go Nationals!

"If they weren't whinning about MASN they would find something else"

That's funny...coming from ther biggest whiner on the board.

I can't believe you're defending MASN.

"You can rationalize anything"

You probably think of the Giants as a New York team.

you always say that with no basis

I'm not defending MASN

they do a decent job they make mistakes especially selling to DC advertisers but that is their business decision.

The deal was needed to be made to bring the team here so it is a cost of doing business

No use obsessing ove rit

to say the Redskins are not a DC team is one of the dumbest statements you ever made

Go anywhere and say that the admission to the looney farm will be waiting

No, what would have and should have happened is to buy up the Expos and move them to DC and let Agnelos fume. The Orioles have no rights over DC, especially for a team in a different league. His lawyer mouth may have said so, he may have thought so, but he had - and has - zero claim over the DC market, especially for a National League team.

But yeah, Selig sold out the area and gave Angelos a piece of the pie vis-a-vis MASN. We'll all see how arbitration goes but I don't think there's a remote chance that the Nats TV deal will be as good as if they were free to negotiation with Comcast, Root or Fox on their TV rights. Maybe I'm wrong, and if MASN agrees to a deal similar to San Diego, Houston or any of the other recent deals, then fine, at least the Nats are getting paid fairly out of it. But the fact will remain that Angelos owns MASN, and has locked up the TV rights to a baseball team that he does not own.

Basically, from a TV revenue perspective, the Nats are vassals to Angelos. They can only deal with his network, and he'll earn a profit for doing nothing. And, a profit he simply doesn't deserve to have.

Vegas isn't large enough or wealthy enough to support a team. The entire valley population is around 1.9 mil and that includes Henderson and Boulder City. Compare that to DC which probably has over 5 mil living in and around the beltway. The median family income in Vegas is a little over $50K. Compared to DC and it's suberbs of over $100K. Better yet, compare Vegas to San Diego County and surronding counties which has more than twice the population as Vegas and twice the wealth. SD has a very hard time competing.

There's no way Vegas can support any type of major professional sport. Very few native Las Vegans. The team would have to market to the opposing team supporters. "Come to Vegas and see your team play a weekend series, then gamble and party afterward." Besides, just a few years ago MLB was thinking about contracting. Expansion seems out of the question.

This is the point where I blow a gasket, have a hissy fit, and spew stuff like "How dare you!" "And you call yourself a Nats fan!", put you on ignore, and then unignore you after a week or two.

But I'm too tired for all that and I'll cut to unignoring you right away. Later on, I'll explain why the rest of us hate MASN, or more specifically, Peter Angelos owning MASN.

"to say the Redskins are not a DC team is one of the dumbest statements you ever made"

Oh is that so? DC teams play in DC, what's hard to understand about that?

Nevermind. I've given up on ever having intelligent discourse with you.

And particularly so if you cannot hold a conversation without constant insults and rudeness. Don't address any further messages to me.

Don't the Jets still play at the same stadium as the Giants in New jersey?

The Jets play in New Jersey too, and with the two Super Bowl parades in Manhattan (which never took place in the Bill Parcells era) NYC has finally gotten over the fact that their football teams play in a neighboring state and years ago got over the fact that none of their baseball teams play in Manhattan.

And for the record I wish it were as easy to get to FedEx from D.C. (or anywhere else in the area) as it is to get to Met Life from New York or the NJ suburbs.

P.S. One last thing. Never mind the question about whether the Redskins are a D.C. team. I'd love my alma mater to wake up and realize that FedEx is a MARYLAND stadium too, and the Terps should play at least one home game there. If the Terps could actually fill up either FedEx or M&T week after week, we wouldn't have to see local All-Americans commit to Penn State or other out-of-state schools.

There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission. If we wish to make it louder, we will bring up the volume. If we wish to make it softer, we will tune it to a whisper. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. We can roll the image, make it flutter. We can change the focus to a soft blur or sharpen it to crystal clarity. While watching the Nads on MASN, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. We repeat: there is nothing wrong with your television set. You are about to participate in a great adventure. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind of Peter Angelos to — The Outer Limits.
