Is ND more demanding academically than SEC schools? Sure, but that's not saying much. Most of the students there are qualified but players for their major sports, not so much.

Boston College is one of the few schools that holds their athletes to the same academic standards as non-athletes. Even if their recruiting suffers because of it.

There simply aren't enough top ranked high school recruits out there that are both academically elite and athletically elite to go around for all the schools.

You're not totally wrong. I hate the NY Yankees more than any team in sports but Notre Dame is a close 2nd. The university acts holier than god and covers up a lot of cr_ap that goes on there. Check out the Lizzy Seebury story, the girl who attended neighboring St. Mary's and committed suicide after accusing a Notre Dame football player of sexual assault. It may pale in comparison to the cover up at Penn State but it's still disgusting.
