You'd have to offer me probably a Cy Young caliber SP and a serviceable DH for me to even think about it.

With the benefit of hindsight, it may prove to be very telling in the case of Pineda.. hedging bets on breakout year and disregarding previous scouting reports..

You mean like Lawrie being a poor defender with only gap power? Breakouts happen.

Good point re salary. I'd not trade him even for guys like a Kershaw or Hernandez + a good bat if the salary difference was $40-50 mil per year. Course, it's just a matter of time before we gots ta pay Lawrie the mega millions, too.

Now that we've actually seen some of the health concerns come to fruition, I agree. At the time of the deal though I wouldn't have.

Meyer is a freak of an athlete though. Still doesn't make him have control though...if he gets the control in order he still might be a star. I'd rather have the 6'9" guy with effortless delivery (which is not Meyer), than the 5'10" pitcher who has to use every part of their body with every pitch.

I made my opinions of Pineda known all through last year, if without the injury history I wasn't huge on him long term...with me being as high on Montero as i am (I have stated many times last year that strictly as a hitter he'll have a better career than everyone in this or last years prospect lists not named Harper or Rendon and I'll probably admit now that Montero might outhit Rendon) I think this deal will go down as one of the best of all time.

Having a hard time finding info on Lawrie's contract. Best I could find was on MLBTR, suggesting that he will be arbitration eligible after the 2014 season. Does that seem right?
