For good BBQ...If you are in Huntsville, go to Mount Zion Church...

Ah, Pancho's buffet, I remember that from when I was a kid too, with the little flag you raise to get the wait staff to come over...

I don't think I've ever really had BBQ, but my parents and brother got to this place that's actually right across the street from Lopez and they seem to love it, can't think of the name though.

I didn't do any drinking when I was there, but it probably would have helped me stomach the food.

Was that the restaurant that Lima was the pitchman for?

I can't verify the dog food reports, since I was pretty young when it was shut down. But that's what I heard from everybody. I'll try and find a newspaper article or something.

It wouldn't shock me to find other things like that still going on in restaurants...

I always get the cheese enchiladas anyway. Problem solved.

"I don't think I've ever really had BBQ,"

I don't think I'm reading that right. Are you serious?

I should say that by BBQ, I'm assuming they mean actual purpose-cooked BBQ food, not just a piece of meat or some fries that I happen to dip into some BBQ sauce because I don't care much for ketchup.

I was defending you yesterday, but I don't know if I can continue to support a Texan who has never experienced BBQ.

"I'm an Alaskan at heart anyway."

Well - real BBQ (none in the city) don't taste nothin like ice. Go to HEB and get a precooked brisket. They are as good or better than anything you'll get at the so called BBQ places in Houston or do it right and go to Mikeskas in El Campo (original down town) or take Alternate 90 to Eagle Lake and try Austins.

Yeah, I remember those, and the churros.

Even though Casa Ole isn't the best tex-mex out there, they have, hands-down, the best sopapillas I've ever had in my life. The kind that you might be willing to kill someone over.

Got to Galveston around 1230 today, and we went straight to The Original Mexican Cafe. Other than the parking, which was bad, the place was very good... Thanks for the recommendation!!

It might come off as pedistrian, but for Mexican food I have never gone wrong with Papasitos. Of course there not just in Houston anymore. I can still remember the Richmond location in the early '80's and having to wait 4 hours for a table. Which after 4 or 5 Margartias and 3 baskets of chips pretty much became a to go box.

Both Papacitos and Mamacitas are excellent Tex-Mex restaurants.
