We are not nearly as good as our record will indicate, and I think our luck will turn in the next few weeks. But if this isn't the first place team that's in the stadings, we aren't a LAST place team, either. I think we've got a good shot to finish with a winning season.

Oh, and I met a fan on the way out of the stadium with an autographed Frank Howard jersey. (Hondo
's "F" looks a lot like a "J" BTW.) He wanted to buy the OD cap I got for free today, but I didn't think it was right to sell a cap I would probably eventually throw away so I gave it to him.

Nobody's commented on this, but before the game, the Nats asked for a moment of silence in memory of Gary Carter. I'm glad they did so, because not only was it the right thing to do, but it would have looked really bad if we didn't. That being said, I also think that it was better for the Mets and Habs to have had every player wear #8 than the Nats.

"We are not nearly as good as our record will indicate"

I don't know, our starting pitching has been pretty good. Our last three starters gave up no runs and 2 hits apiece. JZ also pitched a pretty good game against the Cubs but once again got no run support. With this rotation, I don't see them falling into any big slumps. Also, we still have a pretty soft schedule through May. Hopefully we can hover a few games above .500 through June and then get a boost from Morse, Storen and maybe Harper.

The pitching has been great, thus far...

But, minus all the "circumstances" that have led to their scoring... They have actually "driven in" what, two runs so far ??

I will certainly take every win, no matter how it comes our way...but, how long before these
"circumstances" fall the other way ??

I'll be more than happy to be wrong, but blowing a two-run lead in the ninth inning makes me think that this team is not the reincarnation of the 1927 Yankees. But if we are the equal or better of the 1969 Senators---I can live with that.

I just saw the reply because I couldn't see it earlier. You gotta give FP credit. He said twice just before it happened, if you're going to throw low sliders you have to watch out for a wild pitch in the dirt.
