I think right now Phillies fans would be happy if Doc Halliday was the next Joe Blanton.

Badly. I'm surprised because I figured Doc was smart and savvy enough to be able to return to his past form without throwing 94 mph. So far, not good.

Everyone is talking about the Yankees, but the Phillies got geriatric REALLY quick.

its what happens when you have these insane contracts. The players eventually get old, and you cant do anything with them.

i found it interesting that he struck out 9 in 3.1 innings while lookiing completely pedestrian otherwise

though that probably has something to do w/ the fact that the braves will likely lead the majors in ks this year...and not in the good way

Actually, I will be thrilled if Harvey puts up the 3.53 ERA, 201 IP, and 1.21 WHIP Blanton did in his age 24 season.

I agree but I see MUCH better numbers.

Easily one of the worst threads of last year. How anyone could think Harvey looks anything like Blanton is beyond me.

Harvey looks outstanding tonight but lets wait a bit before we bestow on him greatness. It's a weak hitting Padres lineup. Tougher lineups would most likely exploit the command issues he has.

He has looked dominant in his major league starts so far, but I'm still not so sure he can stay on that level consistently year in and year out.
